- my hands are sharper, and colder
You never think the last time is going to be the last time. You go about your life assuming that you’ve got tomorrow, and most of the times you do. You think that you will get another day to see someone you love, or talk to them, or do something that you love doing. You don’t realize that that moment or that particular day could be the last time.
Sometimes you don’t get enough time.
I am homesick for a place I am not sure even exists. One where my heart is full. My body loved. And my soul understood.
Melissa Cox (via thoughtkick)
Telling yourself that something does not matter is one of the loneliest things you can do, because you only say it, of course, about things that matter very much. But often, and this is the lonely part, they only matter to you.
— Lemony Snicket, Poison for Breakfast
With such a hell in your heart and your head, how can you live? How can you love?
Fyodor Dostoyevsky, The Brothers Karamazov (via thoughtkick)
"Love is never wasted, for its value does not rest upon reciprocity."
-C.S Lewis-
Sometimes the greatest act of love is to walk away so that the other person can find their true self and direction again.
Leon Brown (via quotefeeling)
You are the universe, expressing itself as a human for a little while.
Eckhart Tolle (via to-be-okay)
Vicente Aleixandre, from Sound of the War; A Longing for the Light: Selected Poems, 1979
I’ve known it everyday
Nikki Giovanni, The Collected Poetry, 1968-1998
This is so true! Know your worth.
love hides in questions, you cannot ask a thing without giving yourself away. how was your day? (i hope it was good) when can i see you again? (i pray it's soon) do you feel safe with me? (i feel safe with you) what is your favorite color? (i wish to enrobe you in all that makes you smile)
How do you stay patient?
a lot of breathing / a lot of forgiveness / a lot of realising that there is more of what you can’t control than of what you can / a lot of trying to accept that / a lot of angry nights / a lot of small steps and small days and small achievements / a lot of “well, rome wasn’t built in a day” / a lot of realising that the universe wasn’t made for you and yet / a lot of a little bit of everything and love.
The High Road
People have often told me- ‘take the high road’, ‘be the bigger person’...
I have come to realize that ‘taking the high road’/ ‘being the bigger person’ does not mean you let things slide. It means that if someone hurts you or treats you bad, you tell them that it isn't right and you won't stand for it anymore, and walk away. It means that you stand your ground while letting them know that their actions or words hurt you. It's about doing what is fair to your conscience. If you end up doing something just so you can get back at them, what is the difference between you and the other person? That is what it means to be the bigger person.
Letting things slide, just makes you plain weak. If you don’t stand up for yourself, who will? And, in the world we live in, a world driven by ego and power and fame, being weak is just not an option, especially if you are a woman. If you have something to say, no matter how inconsequential it may seem to other people, you say it out loud and clear, keep you head up and walk away, unapologetically.
Until you find something to fight for, you settle for something to fight against.
Choke, Chuck Palahniuk
