🔀 E Nomine - Carpe Noctem
Ich bin das Auge, nutze die Nacht.Ich bin das Auge das über dich wacht.Ich bin das Auge ohne Gesicht.Die magische Kraft aus dem Schattenlicht’.
Not long after Vincent came back to life, he realized he was not the only one.The first time he registered her presence was at the outskirts of the city. The sky was dark around him as a cigarette hung loose from his lips, his eyes speckling the night red; at that time, so freshly steeped into his new life, he thought of nothing and believed in nothing and within him there was only chaos. The radio in his car crackled and came to life. He turned and listened amidst the whistling of the breeze, and this was what he caught:
“Can we get another car here. The suspect’s hopped into the cruiser, she’s heading down, yes she’s still got the knife-”
“I don’t want to talk to any of you. I’m not a bad person. I didn’t do nothing wrong, she said it was okay, she was asking for it. Is anyone on the line? - Tell them not to crash into me. For the safety of me - please, sir, oh my God.”
“Ma’am will you please just calm down. Pull over, we’ll talk about it and we’ll figure this out.”
Vincent stared at the radio for some time. Not his usual channel, in fact not anybody’s usual channel; somehow his car had tapped into a line of communication not meant for his ears, and he was now listening to a real case unfolding somewhere close by. Somewhere in the depths of his soft and human mind he wondered he’d made a mistake, but now that he was no longer that-
“- ing dispatch, ambulance coming through -”
He looked up at exactly the right moment to see a brightly lit ambulance screeching along the road beneath him. A number of police cars were heading in the opposite direction, closing in on the sole hijacked cruiser far ahead - the culprit, no doubt, was intent on ending her life in a flaming wreckage rather than suffer the consequences of being caught. She was very close to where he was now, if he hopped into his car and joined the chase he could help wall her in. But he did nothing. The sirens screeched past him and he let the moment pass. He turned around once all was silent, eyes blazing in the dark.
“What’s that to do with me?” He asked. The Testarossa made no reply. The radio buzzed into static and shut off into blackest silence.
