Ragnar.

He was surprised, yes, but not because of their lack of desire to kill him but because Aslaug had not turned the boys and especially Ivar against him. “In any case, I am here now. What did I miss?” he made his way to the throne next to her that was still there. If Aslaug had a problem with it, she could do something about it after all.

It irritated Aslaug that Ragnar simply thought he could return and rule over Kattegat, by Odin she would find a loophole in the laws. After all it had been in his absence that she had shouldered the burdens of being a leader and took care of their people. “Nothing you need to worry about.” The light frown parted from her features as a small smile came to play upon her lips, leaning slightly to the side towards the throne he was sitting on. “Why should you suddenly care hm? You left your people Ragnar, I am the one who took care of them. You might be the king, but I am the Queen.” There was a dangerous note to the soft whisper of that last sentence.

“A bad one.” He never claimed to be a good King, he was half expecting Aslaug to be married to someone else, to that Harald Finehair what was his name. “None of our sons wants to do something about it, however.”

That same smirk still lingered upon tanned features at his answer, to say Aslaug was pleased Ragnar had left and she was able to reign in his place was an understatement. However her upturned lips soon dropped to a frown at the mention of their her sons. “Are you surprised at this? You may have abandoned them, but you are still their father.” Aslaug did nothing to keep the bitter tone of her voice at bay. No matter how much she wanted, she couldn’t deny that fact.

Slowly making his way towards her, he returned the smirk. If he had missed anything in Kattegat…it wasn’t her. “No one has claimed themselves King…Therefore it seems that it is still up to me.”

Her eyes never left him as he walked towards her, a soft laugh escaped parted lips. “And what kind of King leaves his kingdom without a word?” The term used loosely, she saw him as neither a king or a husband.

“Yes.” Ragnar forced a smile, glancing around at the Halls. So much had changed, even in there. And yet he was the same. “You have become very observant, my dear.”

There was a glimmer of a smirk upon her features, ignoring his comment. Azure irises flashed darkly as if trying to bore into him “what is it that you want?” Her voice dripping with boredom.
