...and finally, the Dysfunctional Family's children: The Chois.
I don't touch the Ray route with a ten foot pole, because I firmly Don't believe that three beaten five-year-olds in a trenchcoat should be romanceable, but I do have a couple headcanons.
In my personal post-canon, where Saeran assaults Yoosung and leaves him partially blind, Seven nevertheless manages to get his prodigal brother somewhat back, and they become a package deal. Seven is desperate to make up for any real or perceived wrongdoings of his, and he thinks the best way to go about it is to drag Saeran around with him everywhere he goes (the few times he goes literally anywhere). He basically singlehandedly destroys any relationship he's had with Yoosung and, by extension, Zen. Saeyoung decides for Yoosung that he must not be forgiven, and so he never apologizes, never faces any kind of heart-to-heart, and just simply cuts his once-best-friend clean out of his life. Yoosung feels utterly betrayed, and accuses Seven of justifying his brother, which he actually does do because he blames himself. Zen, in his simplicity, just thinks a certain someone needs a good punch in the teeth.
In general, Saeyoung becomes really smothering and toxic to Saeran after being reunited, trying to coddle him and take all responsibility for him, at the expense of himself, his friends, and ultimately Saeran's own wellbeing. He does not hold him accountable for anything, trying to give him a happy childhood he never had, not realizing the only thing he can change is the present.
Saeran, who is not a grownup in any way but physical, starts speedrunning childhood and teens in a very violent way, and given that Saeyoung does everything to hide him from the cruel monstrous world, that same Saeyoung takes the brunt of Saeran's jagged 'growing up'. Needless to say, Saeyoung is in no way equipped to healthily guide him through it. Saeran acts out, lets his pain pour out uninhibited, and hurts his brother in more ways than one.
Saeran does a lot of body modification on himself as means of trying to reclaim his body. Some of it he performs on his own, for other things he sneaks out and runs away, sending his brother into panic.
Saeyoung, for his part, does a lot of self-harm, which he has been consistently doing all of his life.
I don't know where it ultimately leads them, but I know that the both of them are doing everything in their power to undo each other and themselves, some of it intentionally, and some of it not. The Chois have been done dirty by very much everyone they have ever met, and so I don't see them being able to take any ounce of good from the people actually willing to give it to them.
