of Courtyards and of Coffee || Antonin and Dorcas
kniaz-antonin:
Antonin offered a half shrug as he procured two charcoal black mugs before pouring the dark steaming liquid into both. “Something like that,” was all he said as he handed the Ravenclaw one of the mugs. Classes, and the fact that a lot of the other boys had noticed that his running habits aligned with meeting up with a certain blonde. Not that he cared what any of them thought, but they constantly nagged at him and it had started to get annoying. He supposed the benefits had started to be outweighed.
He ran a hand through his dark hair. “Well what about you? You’re probably glad that you finally have your runs back to yourself.” Probably very much true. She’d never made it a secret that his very presence irritated her. He had to admit, he missed the way her jaw tightened and the space between her eyes creased whenever she was vexed by him.
Antonin picked up his own mug and took a sip. This was definitely the good stuff. He’d paid enough for it too. He couldn’t say that he was the biggest coffee drinker that existed, not when he compared to some of the other students of Hogwarts who seemed to believe that they couldn’t live without the stuff, but he certainly was put out to learn that it was banned at this forsaken castle. “You know, this is probably the worst time of day to drink this stuff,” he mused, staring down into the depths of his mug.
She wasn’t going to deny that it was strange -- the fact that she had started to enjoy and even miss Antonin’s company on the runs that she took in the mornings when him showing up started to be more and more sparse, but it wasn’t as though she could actively complain about the fact that she missed his company. No, that would certainly be crossing a line in whatever agreement that had come to silently to not really address this outside of text messages or the occasional glance across a classroom. It definitely would be perceived as crossing a line by her friends given the unknown quantity that he seemed to carry around him at all times.
“It’s odd,” she said softly, biting her lip for a second before taking the mug that he offered. “The company was annoying and nice, all at the same time -- so I suppose it’s nice to have them back to myself on days that I do have a lot of things running through my head though, less of a chance that I’ll snap at you for doing what you do best and using just far too many words and all.” With that, she stuck her tongue out at him and let out a soft noise when the smell of the coffee hit her nose. “Honestly though? Thank you for this, sitting and drinking coffee is probably the most relaxing time of my week.”
“Well, I suppose that if there’s a bad time of day to drink coffee then that would be the time to do it,” Doe said with a smile, taking a hearty drink of the hot liquid before settling her hands around the warm cup. “Personally though? I still don’t think that it is any worse than some of the tea that our classmates drink from time to time at keeping us up, at least -- from what I’ve seen in my common room.”
