Reverse Proposal with Unsuur
based on / inspired by @/my-time-with-vid 's comic!
There was a line of rocks leading from your workshop gate and down the train tracks. They glistened in the harsh sunlight, vibrant agate, precious gold, even some diamonds. You picked up the few nearest to you, snagging at an old bag you’d left out in the yard to collect them into. You could use some of these to make jewelry, if Unsuur didn’t want them.
Though speaking of that boy, you got the idea that this was something he cooked up, a trail of rocks a la a trail of rose petals to something romantic.
The mere idea of Unsuur planning something for you, something intricate like this, made your chest flutter. What did he have planned? You were too curious, so you forgoed most of your morning chores (save taking care of your animals and plants) to follow the trail down the tracks.
You made sure to gather the rocks as you went, though when Andy and Jasmine creeped over with their sparkling puppy dog eyes, you parted with a few prettier pieces for them to have and marvel over. They left you be to traverse up the alternate path into town, towards the Civil Corps buildings and the connecting home of your beloved boyfriend.
As you came up on the house, you noticed someone was outside to greet you, a sign taped to his chest.
“Wilson!” You chirped, only to gasp when you actually read the words on the sign. Your hands flew over your mouth, eyes watering. Truly? Really truly? He wanted to marry you? “Oh. . . and here I thought you wanted to keep our relationship underwraps to spare your best friend’s feelings. Oh, yes! Yes, Wilson, I will marry you!”
The voice, marred by confusion, caused a giggle to bubble up in your chest. You suppressed it, turning to smile at Unsuur, stood behind you, halfway down to one knee with a ring in his hand. His eyes were narrowed, a million and one calculations flashing through them as he tried to make sense of your silly joke.
You threw yourself into his arms before he could think too hard about it, and together you tumbled onto the cobblestone.
“I’m joking, precious!” You laughed. Despite the boggled expression he wore, Unsuur still blushed at the cutesy nickname. “Of course I’ll marry you, Unsuur.” You peppered his cheek in kisses. “Always!”
Slowly, a shy smile spread across his face. “Good. I’m glad, and excited too.” He paused, eyeing Wilson. “And Wilson isn’t your secret lover, right?”
Snickering, you tucked your head into the crook of his neck. “Mm, nope. Though if he were to ask. . .” Unsuur tightened his grip on your waist, glaring at the rock. “I would say no. Because you’re the only one I want.”
A softer, more vulnerable look slowly came over Unsuur’s face. He looked up at you, thumbs rolling into the divots of your hips, staring like you were the sun shining just for him.
“Forever and always.” You confirmed.
Unsuur smiled again, this one large and toothy. “I like that. Yeah, let’s get married right away. Right now. Wilson can officiate.”
You laughed as he stood, throwing you easily over his shoulder. Seemed you were going to elope instead of wed afterall, but you wouldn’t have it any other way.
