Something for Supernatural fans
Here’s what I don’t get, though: why do so many people believe the best ending for ‘Supernatural’ would be for Sam and Dean to die? They have died so many times that it would almost be an anticlimax ;)
In my opinion, the show should end the way it started: with an urban ledgend. No, I don’t mean they should just find some other silly ledgend and create a new monster. Think about it: Supernatural’s writers aren’t the only ones telling stories about the Winchesters, and they haven’t been for a long time. There’s people writing fanfiction, there’s people taking pictures of Impalas parked down the street, wondering what Sam and Dean could possibly be doing there…
The Winchester brothers aren’t just hunting urban ledgends anymore: they have become one. Or they are well on their way of becoming one. Imagine telling your kids they don’t have to be afraid of monsters, ‘because the Winchesters will get rid of them’. Imagine them saying ‘mommy tell me about how Dean Winchester saved the world, again’.
Jensen was right: as long as the Winchesters are alive, there will be more stories to tell. But why deny all those possible stories by letting the brothers die? There’s magic in wondering. So why not let people wonder?… Why not let them make these amazing characters immortal? To me, the perfect ending to Supernatural would be the trunk of the Impala slamming shut, Dean telling Sam over the roof of the car: “We’ve got work to do, Sammy” and Sam grinning as they slide into the car. The Impala’s engine would roar to life and they’d drive off into the great unknown, a thousand stories left to tell…
