Bookworms || Jinki&Jiyoon
Everyone knew Jiyoon liked to read. It was obvious, she was a Literature Major and worked at a bookstore. But she didn’t like it, she loved it. Ever since she had learned how to read with her grandmother and a newspaper when she was just four, Jiyoon had devoured every readable thing that had fallen in her hands. It didn’t mind if it was books, magazines, newspapers or the ads on the train, she read everything. That was why, probably, working part time at a bookstore was one of the things that lightened up her days.
She loved working there, especially the moments when the shop was empty and she could just wander around it discovering new stories and worlds. It hadn’t been just one time that her workmates had found her in a nook of the store, absorbed in a book she had just found and couldn’t stop reading. She also loved attending their customers, especially the ones that looked for unique books or that wanted her recommendations -she loved talking about the books she had read and liked.
She had just finished unpacking some new books that one of the regular customers had ordered when she heard the bell on the door ring and a familiar voice greeting. Turning around to the door, she smiled at the boy that had just entered. “Hello Jinki” she said with a soft smile. Jinki, one of the regular customers and one of Jiyoon’s newest friends at Myeonghwan, was standing there with a smile.
“Wah, that’s great! Did you like it?” she asked cheerfully, eager to talk about books with someone that she knew shared her taste in literature.
"I liked it very much." Jinki said, biting his lip as he smiled and attempted to stop himself from going on too much about the book right away. He knew how terrible it felt to get spoiled on a book you were currently reading or planned to read; so his comments would stay vague until he'd gotten the OK from his friend.
As he paused to gather his thoughts a bit on the book he'd just read, Jinki glanced around and once again felt relieved that there was no one around but him at the moment. He hated feeling like he was intruding or bothering Jiyoon when she worked, even if the store's business seemed to be a bit slow.
"I enjoyed it a lot, I loved how vivid it was, very descriptive- Do you want me to help you with anything?" He asked her carefully, knowing how trying it could be to work with retail. Boxes needed carrying, orders needed to be checked and so on- he'd be more than happy to help her.
