Elijah let out a humorless laugh at the other’s comment as he slowly sat himself up. “Joke all y’ want. I’m at least gettin’ shit done in this town,” he huffed. His jaw clenched as he moved his hip the wrong way, knowing it’d be sore for days to come. He let out a soft sigh and eyed Blondie with an eyebrow arched. “Are y’gonna just stand around or are y’gonna help me up?”

Well, he had to give him that. He seemed to be doing more than what most sheriffs that he’d run into. Didn’t seem to be giving him the usual look he got whenever he rode into town. Already had some points for him he supposed. Only downside was he seemed to have some of their sense of humor which from what he had seen was next to none. Well at least not like his. Blondie gave a slight smirk to the downed man. “Thought you were down there to take a little break, sheriff. Looks like you’ve had a rough day.”

“And here I thought you were supposed to be made of tougher stuff,” Tony murmurs, sat in one of SHIELD’s safehouses with Remy LeBeau himself on the sofa. He can’t imagine Cyclops to have an especially good reaction to this– the man carries grudges like nothing else, and the whole bout with the X-Men is still a sore subject in general– but he puts his worries on the backburner and focuses instead on the hurt man before him.

(Wolverine said once to see people before potential. Tony does his best to see Gambit instead of the shit that’ll be stirred when people find out the man got injured while they were working together.)

“I’m gonna start pulling the glass out, all right?”

Gambit’s back looks… pretty bad. He’ll have to end up using the suit to take the smaller bits, he thinks, but for now Tony frowns in concentration as he starts tugging the bigger pieces out slowly.

Remy scoffed at the comment about being tougher than this. Seeing as he was in that fancy armor. Between the two of them he was more likely to get himself banged up. Should see what happened if he slipped a charged card into a piece of it. Small one. Not going to do a lot of damage. Didn’t need that backlash now did he? He got enough shit as it was. Didn’t need to add more to the list.

“Don’t wanna hear dat comin from a man covered in all that fancy armor.” He shot back after a moment of thinking on the difference. He knew that he was going to catch shit from the rest of the team for getting himself into trouble again. Though he was sure Scott was going to have something to say to Tony about the fact that he was being returned in rougher shape than when he left.

He could feel the glass in his back just about every time he moved. This was going to suck. He was used to that. Had a lot worse than this sure. But that didn’t mean he was going to enjoy it.

“Let get it over wi’h.” Knowing that whatever Tony was going to have to do was going to take a minute.

🚀IT WAS TRUE THAT SOMEONE HAD TO DO the work and the General trusted no one except him for the task. He wasn’t fond of getting himself into stations, preferred the air before missons on ground, but they both knew that he was daring enough - reckless enough - to do what it has to be done. That was how he made it here, with his squadron, the people he trusted the more in the Resistance, and now with a new pilot.

In all honestly the Resistance was in short when it came to supplies, and pilots. There weren’t many ships, and the few they did had were not on their best - most of them were older than the General herself. So when Kyle showed up, it has not been a surprise that the Commander claimed him for Black Squadron, they needed one more man, and that meant one more x-wing. It has been their luck that the guy knew how to fly.

Being aware that the man was not from here - not just the planet but the entire galaxy, and probably timeline as well, was enough to make Commander Dameron a little curious about his reasons to join a fight that was not his own. The answer he got to that question, was without doubt not what he expected. “So in a way you feel obliged.” He stated, it was not a question. “I mean to ask because I know you’re not from here, this is not your fight, so I was curious.” He explained further.

On the other hand, Poe has noticed how Kyle reacted to BB-8 and possibly every other droid he had encounter. It remind him of himself. “Don’t worry, they are good - mostly - I know the deal of not liking them quite well, especially if you heard something about the Clone Wars, the separatists had an army of battle droids. You can even imagine they are souless, I know because it’s how I used to see them.” Until he meet Eevee a long time ago.

Being a soldier didn’t bother him anymore. He thought maybe once he had finished with dealing with the terminators that he would be done with it or well dead. Honestly, he never expected to make it out of that factory alive. Yet he somehow woke up in a place he never would have guessed existed. He found he was starting to like it in this place. There were some points that made him think of home. The fighting and the need for a resistance. His existence as a solider never ended. But there was something almost calmer here. In some respects, anyway.

He hadn’t been expected to be picked up so quickly really. He had been told a bit about who they were putting him with. Clearly there was something about this group that they thought he could work with. So Kyle figured this wouldn’t be too bad of a placement. He was used to doing things like this. The flying was still a bit new.

Hiding his nervousness around droids wasn’t something he was too good with. Most seemed to choose not to comment. Like it was something that they had seen before. They hadn’t talked too much about the reason. But at least it meant that the seemed to have an idea of what’s happening.

“Yeah. A little anyway. Don’t know if they feel the same or just happy to have someone else here.” They seemed to be in dire need for more people. So, the fact that Kyle seemed willing to work with them wasn’t being questioned too much.

“I’m still getting used to them.” The idea that they could work on the same side as them still seemed nearly impossible. He was always worried that they were going to turn on them like the machines in his world did. Clone Wars? He had heard something about that in passing. Something he seemed to have missed.

“Before coming here, spent my life fighting things like that. Sounds like some of you did to. Just going to take me a little longer.” Seeing as the thing that had almost killed him was one of those damn things. It might be a little slow.

Frenchie knew that he could have avoided that puddle. But he found he couldn’t resist. Just to see what the man’s reaction would have been. Of course, it was about as he would expect. Still, he couldn’t help but grin towards him.

“Oui.” He answered with a nod. “I could. But were would the fun be in that?” He asked, just because they had to deal with each other didn’t always mean that Frenchie had to be nice. Hell, Stark seemed to be finding new ways to bitch about something.

“Try to loosen up huh?” He asked knowing that they were both probably exhausted but Frenchie was used to doing some insane things. So could push that back for long enough to get back to where he needed to be.

That was all Red mourned, anyway, as he sat back in his chair and looked over his handiwork. The man was wrapped proper, torso shaped by clean bandages, and in the warm glow of lamplight Red finally got a good look at him. Blond hair peppered with dust, dirt caking his cheekbones, strong shoulders, a lean frame...

Taking stock of the man’s hat where it rested at the head of the bed, Red clicked his tongue.

Gunslingers. Every time. Fools, the lot of them.

Frankly, the only reason Red had thought to grab him from his unfortunate place by the side of the road had been because of the trail of blood that followed him. If the man had already been in a fight, then it couldn’t be Red he was seeking.

He’d done all he could with what he had. Now the rest of the battle would be this man’s to fight, and hopefully he wouldn’t break into infection. Red had no idea how long it’d been since he passed out just off the roadside.

By the time morning rolled around, Red was dozing in the chair by the man’s bed, arms crossed and head dipped and ready to rise at any moment’s notice. The bedside table had two cigarettes in its ashtray, long dead, and their ashes rustled with the gentle blow of wind through the open window.

If anyone was going to ask Nathan about Chris when he was hurt, they’d hear about how he was one of the worst patients. Well, him or Ezra. Ezra was right there honestly might have been worse. But still Chris was stubborn. He hated having to stay in one place for too long. Even more so when he was too weak to really do anything.

The fact that he was even struggling to eat was enough to piss him the hell off. Seemed that the other man was more amused by the whole situation than anything else. Which really Chris found annoying. Though he wasn’t wrong. At this rate he would be eating all damn day.

Looking down at the bowl for a moment when he offered again for help. “Having fun with this aren’t you?” He asked glare back in place. By this point if he thought he could get up he would be trying to get back to town. He needed to get back anyway. Didn’t know if there were more of them that would cause trouble for the others. He didn’t want to sit that out.

“I can handle it.” Barely. But he could still do it.

🚀IF THE TIE FFIGHTERS HAS BEEN SENT it meant that the troopers wouldn’t be too far behind the moment they landed. Too much for a seemingly abandoned station - he figured it couldn’t be, despite the reconnaissance mission a few days ago. He hasn’t been a part of it, but the team returned safe and without a scratch to inform them that the station was abandoned - now he had many questions about that.

He flew the x-wing towards the landing plataform - once landing there, he took off his helmet and jumped out. “Kyle, isn’t it? Stay sharp, there will be troopers here in no time.” BB-8 rolled from the ship ready to locate the panel with the information they needed. Poe took two things from his pockets - a lantern and his blaster. The station was in darkness, probably a smart move to pretend no one was guarding it.

“So… why did you join the Resistance?” The curiosity has been there the moment he heard about him. Poe liked to talk to his people, get to know them - befriend most of them - it was like second nature to him. “I heard you are not exactly from here.” It was a rumor that started a while ago, Poe has been quite busy not to dig on more information by the time, besides he prefer the answers from the source.

Kyle was in the process grabbing his weapon when he heard the other talking to him. Poe wasn’t it. Nodding when he asked about his name. “Yeah.” He answered simply hearing him give a warning to stay sharp. He knew how these kinds of jobs worked. He knew that they weren’t going to be let run around freely. Someone was going to be looking for them.

The little robot that had come out too had Kyle tensing for a split second. Only because he still was a little uneasy about those things. Droids or any kind of thing like that had him uneasy for a second. They didn’t seem that interested in him and they didn’t seem to be on the attack anymore. But he still had moments of unease in dealing with them.

Kyle had taken to the weapons here almost the second they touched his hands. They were like the ones back home. So he felt comfortable enough handling them. The piloting took a little more effort. But he took to it well enough to. Seemed they thought he was good enough to be on this job. This was his first one with these people. He was expecting a few questions. So, he didn’t seem that surprised when he was asked why he joined up.

Why did he join? He was sure they all had some good answers. Kyle wasn’t so sure his own were that good. He wasn’t from here. Didn’t even know where he was in all honesty or when. He just seemed to have settled.

“Well, suppose I owe some of you.” He answered after thinking for a little while not sure if that seemed like a good enough reason. “When I got here, I wasn’t in good shape. Pretty sure I would have died. Probably should have. Doubt it’s much of a reason.”

He still liked the ship, and would do anything to have a try at piloting it, if Solo ever allowed him to.

“Tsk, that’s cause it’s not a questions or yes or no.” Poe pointed out, lifting a finger in his direction. “I could teach you what I know, but not for that ship of yours if you don’t wanna set it on fire by the end of the journey.” He explained further. “Light skipping is in theory not good, in the practice is very dangerous, so you’ve to have a good ship for that, or it will be… well not the last flight of it, but you will have to repair it.” He had learned to do that move in an old corellian ship, similar to the Falcon.

Yavin IV was his home - he figured he would always return here no matter what, or for how long he went away, this place called for him like the Force did with the Jedi, and it was inevitable. But at the same time he wanted to be gone from there as much as he wanted to always return. The mixed feelings were mostly attached to the people that lived there - his father Kes, L’ulo, and in parts Luke. But Yavin IV was not giving him many opportunities other than become a farmer, and that was… well not exactly what he wanted for his life. He wanted more, he wanted freedom.

Poe held no hopes for Han to take him in the offer, he was certain the man was going to brush him off, pat his shoulder and try to teach him some lesson of how the smuggler life was dangerous and not for him - though he had experienced that with the Spice Runners of Kijimi - what would Zorii think of him if he went to do this with Han? He could imagine she wouldn’t be very happy. But then Han opened his mouth and Poe’s thoughts vanished. “Wait! Are you serious? You’re taking me with you and Chewie?!” That was it, that was the best day of his life.
