What happens when Han, Qi’ra and Dey’ia spent a week at the seaside.

“I don’t think I can forgive you. You hurt me.’’

“It’s okay, I don’t want you to forgive me.’’ the chatenne shrugged, toying with a loose wave of her hair. “I know that what I said is right, even if you don’t want to accept that just yet. And forgiveness is shit.’’ Han arched one of his thin little eyebrows, truly shocked by his friend’s words. “Forgiveness won’t heal a bruised knee or put money in someone’s pocket. So what’s the point of saying ‘I forgive you’ just to make a person feel better about themselves?”

“To show that you care about the person’s feelings. That you believe they can do better, that they can be better.’’ the boy replied. Qi’ra puffed, taking a spoonful of ice cream.

“You don’t actually believe that. You know I can’t do better. So what’s the point?’’

Han frowned, probably even more hurt than he had been a month ago, when he and Qi’ra had fought and he had pushed her down the stairs. There was still a small scar in the corner of her mouth as a memory from the incident, along with her ugly, older twin sister cutting across her upper lip. A reminder of Fillis’ actions back from so many months ago that still haunted them both from time to time.

“Why are you starring at me like that?” Qi’ra inquired confused.

“You talk just like her. Like your mother.’’

life update?

sorry ive been so inactive! i have been job searching and that has been taking a mental toll on me. i have not had as much time to write nor energy to be on my phone a lot. but, things seem to be cooling down for me so hopefully i will be more present 🫶🏻

And right then, in a moment of weakness, he pressed his lips to her forehead and left a chaste, long and deep kiss at the edge of her hairline.

Truthfully, it had been an impulsive gesture, powered by the unbearable sorrow that consumed Leia’s soul from the outside to the very core, pain that had slowly but surely begun creeping at the edges of Han’s heart for a while now. Something so small it could almost pass as a child’s attempt to make his mother forgive him after he had carelessly broken her favourite vase. Some small action to perform a play-pretended act of ‘sorry’ for the sake of it.

But that kiss – that gesture of affection he had allowed himself to harbour for weeks now, tormented by demons of his own yet dying of worry as he could only sit and watch Leia fighting with her own darkness, now held so much more than what initially had been pity and regret. That kiss he offered her nurtured strength, courage, assurance, safety – the closest things he could think of when daring to think of caring, of loving, even.
