Hereโs the twist. ย Youโre admitting Jews donโt hate Germans, because Nazis oppressed them.
But youโre defending the equivalent of Jews hating Nazis and Armenians hating Turks.
Slave-owners enslaved black people. ย People involved in the trade did. ย Most of the U.S., both by state and population, made slavery illegal by 1809.ย The fight against slavery, in individual homes and houses (not just in congress) was so strong that the Supreme Court literally had to get involved and literally make it a crime to help runaway slaves. ย And white northerners still did it.
If you were sitting there (Iโm assuming youโre sitting down) and decrying the KKK, or the Confederacy, or assholes who still support them to this day I would be on your side.
But youโre not. ย Youโre fomenting hatred, which you yourself have admitted is hatred, against not only people uninvolved in Slavery, but against people whose ancestors are more likely to have fought against Slavery than to support it.
Also oppression breeds HATRED. Something you wouldnโt understand because youโve probably never been oppressed in your life.
As someone who has had attempted kidnappings because Iโm white, and whose family has literally been held for random by the police, Iโd say I have an inkling of what the fuck youโre talking about.
Do you really think black Africans who were enslaved by white people didnโt HATE their owners? Do you think that after they were whipped, and had their women raped, and their families broken up that they didnโt loathe the very people and systems that did that to them? Do you think that once their sons and daughters were lynched that after the immeasurable fear they felt was gone that it wasnโt replaced by an immeasurable hatred?
I donโt doubt that they did. ย But hereโs the thing.
Youโre not them.ย (I checked your about me. ย I doubt youโre older than 25). ย You havenโt been under Jim Crow. ย Your parents (Iโll assume they are from NYC, just like you and me) werenโt under Jim Crow either.
Your situation is not equitable to a slave in 1830. ย Your situation is not equitable to a black personโs in Alabama in 1910. ย Stop making a mockery of their torment by saying you know it; You know what itโs like to live 40 years under a whip the same way I know what itโs like to live as a sex slave.
You may face racism, but you donโt face slavery. ย I may have been raped and almost kidnapped, but Iโm not a sex slave.
