"Biennials! Y'know, the type of flowers that takes a year or two to reach full bloom? It's better to get started early on those."

"Our what?"
"Biennials! Y'know, the type of flowers that takes a year or two to reach full bloom? It's better to get started early on those."
"I hope everyone's planted their biennials before the rainy season began."
"I know! I haven’t had to talk to bombs for almost a year now! And…heh…I dunno if I’m cool or anythin’. But I do have a lot of friends! I’ve made lots of friends in the past year! More than I’ve ever had before!"
"Any good person is cool in my book. I think it's easier to take the easy way than it is to do the right thing, so if you have enough self control to do the right thing, I think that makes you a pretty cool person!"
"Well…yeah! Or I used to, I guess. Bein’ all on my own as a kid and bombs bein’ the closest things I had to toys, I guess I was bound to start talkin’ to ‘em! It got rid of my boredom and I had somethin’ to talk to, even if bombs wouldn’t talk back!" Bean replied.
"That makes more sense!"
Here Mighty thought this was a crazed duck for a second. It was nice to hear his assumptions were wrong. "Well, you don't have to talk to bombs anymore. Not when you've got me around! And I bet you have all sorts of other friends, the cool kids always draw in a crowd."
"It's almost autumn!"
"It was the fight against eggman, one of the biggest ones at that. I’m from the future so no, i don’t have many friends at all." His ears perked, but soon flattened again. "Blaze..was another one of my friends, but i think…i lost contact with her." It didn’t take long for his ears to perk again, to be honest, making friends made silver happy, even though if he didn’t have many he protected who he could to the best of his abilities— "Wait really? Don’t friends usually have to do something for each other for trust to be earned?" Silver please—-
"I don't have a problem with giving a little trust out as long as you'll do the same." Mighty made friends everywhere he went. It was a part of who he was to trust fairly easily. There were things he would surely keep to himself, but he didn't understand anyone who locked themselves away from the world. He could never have done that, no matter how hurt someone made him.
"Well, I’m glad I met ya now and not a year ago! I woulda probably freaked out cause of all the niceness!" Bean said before shaking his head.
"Oh no, I don’t think I could do that. I mean, as far as careful goes, I’m a lot more careful than I used to be. But I don’t think I could get all on edge around bombs like everyone else does. That’d be a mean thing to do, especially with how nice they are to talk to!"
"You talk to bombs?"
That one was different. Mighty had seen some interesting things while traveling, but he hadn't ever met anyone who actually tried talking to bombs. Was Bean referring to something like an imaginary friend? Sometimes Ray did that, even though he was a little old for it, but Mighty never said anything about it.
Naw, just seeing another me in a different type of form kinda irks me. It’s not too flattering to see another you waltzing around the place.
"If it makes you feel better, I could leave."
"Well, yeah, that one could, just a lil bit. The last time it blew up near me, I got some small burns. But I don’t gotta worry about the regular bombs! The most those do is make my hands go numb for a tiny bit!…And singe my feathers sometimes, it all depends on how close it is!" Bean said, grinning.
"…That’s nice of ya though, that ya wouldn’t let me get hurt even though ya haven’t known me for long!"
"I've known you long enough to see you're a pretty cool person." He stated. It was more difficult to get on Mighty's bad side than it was to get on his good side. It was his mission in life to protect anyone and everyone, especially those who couldn't protect themselves. It didn't seem like Bean had that problem, but a little extra security never hurt anyone. "Just uh... be careful around those things."
Well, Bean was definitely impressed. This guy was as strong as Bark was! He blinked in confusion a few times however when Mighty said he could’ve gotten hurt.
"But it wasn’t lit! It wouldn’t have gone off! Besides, my bombs wouldn’t hurt me, not as much as they’d hurt a regular person anyways…Sorry if I scared ya."
"...Oh." Mighty blinked. He hadn't really thought that through. He immediately assumed a bomb meant explosion, but thinking a little more carefully about it, he realized that a bomb couldn't blow up unless someone lit it on fire or something.
Mighty's hands, now balled into fists, sat on his hips. "Nah, you didn't scare me." There was a smug expression on his face. Maybe he had been a little scared, but he wouldn't admit it. "It could still hurt you, even if it doesn't hurt as much. I would never let that happen."
” — The problem with that is I have no time to take care of a garden. However, I do have people and know someone else I am close to who would be willing to help. The formal would want payment, of course.
”Are you sure you would do that work for free? I’ve heard your name is passing and you know Sonic, right? I would be more than willing to help one of Sonic’s friends financially when the time comes.”
"I guess if you're royalty you must have a lot to do." That was something he couldn't imagine. Mighty couldn't grasp the concept of not having time for a personal hobby as important to him as gardening. At her questioned, he flashed a thumbs up. "'Course I would! Sonic's one of my best buds!
I don't need any money, but thank you for the offer! Gardening is a passion for me, I'd be happy to do it just for the fun of doing it. If nothin' else, it gives me more flowers to enjoy!"
"I suppose the better term is allies. So far Sonic’s the only one who said we were friends…" Well, Starlight as he liked to be called, but thats beside the point. "I was on the secret freedom fighters until that ended once our mission was complete."
"You don't have many friends, do you?" He questioned. That was the impression Mighty got. "Not sure what any of that is, or what your mission was, but I'll be your friend if you want." Mighty never had a problem with making, or having friends. Friends were what gave him motivation to do things.
Maria’s eyes widened, shocked by his kindness.
"Do… do you mean that..?"
"You bet I do! You met the right guy, I know all the best places to go if you're lookin' for natural beauty!"
"Being impatient can be a curse."
Someone burnt his tongue.
Bean thought for a bit. Well, there were houses, but he doubted people would want those lifted. Trees? As a nature lover, Bean doubted Mighty would want to go ripping those out of the ground just to show off.
Then the duck’s face lit up as he got an idea.
"Yeah! I got somethin’ heavy!" he replied as he held out both hands, a rather large unlit bomb simply appearing in them. The thing was huge and Bean quickly set it down since he couldn’t hold it up for very long, especially not when he was relaxed like this.
"Will one of these do??"
Bean didn't have to ask him to lift it. Mighty wasn't experienced when it came to bombs, he only knew them to be dangerous. He wasn't worried for himself. His shell wouldn't have been able to keep him safe, but Bean? He didn't have anything to protect himself! As far as he knew, that is. Eyes wide, he put both hands on the bomb, grunting slightly as he lifted it above his head.
The bomb was then thrown out to the horizon. That may not have been the wisest option, but it was the most obvious one to Mighty. "That was a close call. You could've gotten hurt if that thing went off!" No one was getting hurt on Mighty's watch.
”I was wondering if you got paid for your work, Mighty. In about a month or so, I’ll be moving into a new home. My last home lacked any kind of landscaping — I don’t have the time nor the talent for a green thumb — but if you were to do gardening professionally, I would be willing to pay for a job done around the home.”
"You don't gotta pay me for a job like that! I'll do it for free! I'll even teach ya how to take care of everything. It's not work if you love what you're doing, y'know? It's not always easy, but it's always fun! Well," He let out another chuckle. "I think so. I know there are people who don't like how much work it can be."
"Nice to meet ya too, you’re friends with Knuckles right? If i remember correctly."
"Yeah! Are you a friend of his too? Never heard of you before. You've got a crazy head of quills there. Not that it's a bad thing! They're pretty cool!"
