I hate networking, but I’ll take a free drink any day.
When you want to separate yourself from the parent who only picks apart and points out the issues with your most recent painting, and then you want to separate yourself from the parent who comments on how fast/how much only YOU specifically are eating at a table of people, and then you don't have any parents left. These are stupid, little issues, but honestly these people make me so fucking tired and I don't understand how they even raised me.
Love yourself. Surround yourself with beautiful things.
Can I talk for a second about what it is like inside my head? Today it was cooking and baking. Pork tenderloin stuffed with poached pears and sautéed shallots, lemon cake with rosewater lemon glaze, lots of ingredients into the crockpot to create a warm and hearty sweet potato chili. Some days it's burying myself in flowers, beautiful arrangements pouring over every surface for no real reason. At times it is small embroidered patches, hours on the couch with a pile of fabric in my lap, putting whatever is in my head into the thread. I don't know what this is. I immerse and then I withdraw. I commit and then I lose interest. It's the reason I am so weary of relationships. It's the reason I was worried about getting married. Short attention span, fleeting interests, never really sure of any decision. And yet here I am, I have a partner who accepts this, who comes home to a kitchen full of flowers and just laughs. He appreciates and tries any recipe I decide to make, even if I make way too much food. He encourages my manic episodes of sudden interest, my impulsions, my ever-changing mind.
Nothing better than a clean kitchen and open windows
