“Never in the annals of American crime has there been a more unusual serial killer than Sante Kimes.

Teamed with her son, Kenny, Kimes set out on a cross-country killing spree which lasted for over six years in the 1990s, culminating with the murder of 82 year old Irene Silverman in New York. The pair were convicted of Silverman’s murder in 2000, and later convicted in Los Angeles of the 1998 murder of business man David Kasdin.

Kimes, who passed away in May of 2014, has been the focus of at least a dozen biographies, two made-for-TV films starring actresses Mary Tyler Moore and Judy Davis in the role of Sante Kimes. Though, never before has there been a pictorialization of Kimes on screen which attempted to examine her in a detailed way from her own words – via her letters to close correspondences.

Now comes forth the project which aims to do so, and tell of Kimes’ turbulent life behind bars following her convictions.

Those close to Kimes, including her son Kent Walker, who penned his own account of life with Sante Kimes in his autobiography “Son Of A Grifter”, claimed Kimes became even more deranged and unbalanced once the prison door slammed behind her and she began serving her 120 year sentence. A project of this magnitude requires no less an established actress than that of Kathy Bates.

Bates’ own personal spin on the persona of a woman once called “the most degenerate defendant to appear in this court room” by a New York judge undoubtedly promises to deliver a powerhouse performance.”
