@mynameis-meeko
I'm alive.
No need to apologize, it’s fine. Your life, your decisions. It’s fine. I get it.
Charlie, you just... you don't understand. I made a decision before going with him...
I'm alive.
Not as bad as everyone thinks? That’s why he kills people for sport. Right. Well. Have fun with that. You’re probably the only one who’s brave enough to touch him, as much as that thought wants to make me vomit. [shakes his head] Nah, not mad. Why would I be mad? This is the icing on the cake.
Everyone's done things not to be proud of... [he looks away] Fun? I saw him killing someone. I had no fun with that. But I'm fine. I'm alive. He could have killed me many times and haven't done that. I didn't want to go with him.. I-I wanted to figure that out. Why was I still alive... or maybe I just wanted to feel like I hadn't been used... I don't know. [he takes a breath as if he was going to say more but he doesn't] Charlie, I-I don't expect you to understand, or... I just... I'm sorry...
I'm alive.
Hook…right. Well I hope you enjoyed your time with the circus asshole.
I- [he sighs deeply] He's not as bad as everyone thinks, but-but that's not the point. I couldn't... I couldn't call, I couldn't... I wanted to come back. I missed you... Scar, you're not-you're not mad at me, aren't you?
I'm alive.
What? Okay, I need a better explanation than that, and I need it now.
[he looks at him for a second] You're not getting mad at me? Promise? [he rolls his eyes] I was with Hook... I-I was trying to talk to him about... about a million things and he got in his car, and I was trying and... he just drove away. I didn't know he was going to be gone for that long, and I wanted to come back but I was in the middle of nowhere...
I'm alive.
How exactly does someone get lost for a couple of weeks?
N-not lost. Something more like kidnapped. It just-it just sounded better. And less worrying... I'm fine! I could have left, just didn't know where I was. So I stayed.
I'm alive.
In case you were wondering. Just got... kinda lost. For a couple weeks.
Sighs
Tomorrow is not going to be a good day.
Knock yourself up since morning. Next thing you'll know, it's already the day after tomorrow.
Cheers to that!

Hook was about to put the vacuum on, when he heard a denial. He frowned and turned to look at the kid again. “You never say no to food”, Hook replied, actually giving in the fact that he did know a bit more about the kid than he let show. Hook turned completely around and let go of the vacuum cleaner. He crossed his arms over his chest and looked at Meeko. “Just make the call.” At this exact moment Hook didn’t like that Shark bait was scared of him. Or whatever he was at the moment. Hook offered him food, just out of.. what was it? Kindness..? Was Hook kind..? No, not really. Hook frowned even more, now because of his thoughts and he turned his look down. He had took the boy with him, he was talking with him, he offered him food.. Why? Hook wasn’t nice person, he didn’t do things like that unless he had something in his mind. But this time he didn’t have any ulterior motive. He did all this just because.. Because he enjoyed the kid’s company. As weird as it was, it was true. He liked to talk with him, he liked that he didn’t think about him like everyone else did. Meeko was different and that’s why Hook kept him around.
Hook lift his look up and walked to the phone. “What do you want to eat? It can be anything at all. And as much as you want. Just name it.” Hook’s tone was bit different than it normally was. It was almost… friendly. Even the way he looked at the kid on his couch, it wasn’t angry look, not anything he normally gave to others. It was like asking for Meeko to trust in him and not be scared.
The remark made him feel confused. Hook knew about him and food, clearly and that's why he was saying that. He didn't know his name but he knew about one of his habits. That was interest, he thought. Or he wanted to think. "No... I-I really am okay," he replied, smiling a bit but another sound from his stomach gave him away. He was starving. Meeko rolled his eyes and crossed his arms over his stomach, cursing at himself. He looked up at him with an apologetic look, but what he saw was something different than something he'd seen on him before. Hook's forehead seemed relaxed, and there even was a glimpse of some sort of shine on his eyes. He didn't look that threatening in that moment. Meeko's smile got a bit wider, barely noticeable. His theory of Hook not being such a bad man was being proven right at least to his eyes. "Uhm..." he closed his eyes, his brain thinking of a thousand options. "Chinese? Orange chicken and fried rice, maybe?" He said, looking up at him from the couch and smiling, with his lower lip trapped between his teeth.

Hook could see that the kid was scared, but he didn’t pay that much attention to it. It was normal that people were scared around him. A big part of Hook actually liked the fact that people were scared of him. That way they knew to stay away so Hook could be in his own peace.
Hook turned his look back to Shark bait, just let his gaze rest on him, thinking what truly was going on in the boy’s mind. He was scared, but there was something else too. In moments like these Hook hated that he didn’t know anything about feelings or emotions. He just knew what’s hate and fear, and that’s all. The thank you was a bit surprise, since Hook didn’t know why it came or well, why things like thank you's were really said. But then Hook did something he actually never did. “You're welcome.” Those words were really rare words from his mouth, but for some reason they just came out from his mouth. Hook straightened up, walked back to the vacuum cleaner and pick it in his hand as he glanced at the kid. “Use the phone”, he said and pointed at the phone on the corner of the room. “Push number one for a moment, wait the downstairs to answer and tell them what food you want. They'll bring it over like their pants are burning.”
Meeko expected the conversation to die after his last two words, but he got a reply and all he could do was smile. They were having an actual conversation and for some reason, it sent a warm fuzzy feeling to Meeko's insides. Something kinda tingly. He kept looking down, trying not to stare at anything: not at Hook, not at anything around the room, though inside his head he was thinking about looking for ways to escape. He knew it'd be useless. He could just leave through the front door and Hook wouldn't stop him but how would he go back to the circus? He didn't even have idea of where the circus was in America. He had happened to stumble upon it almost a year back and that's all he knew.
A ramble from the inside of his stomach made him chuckle lightly. "The phone?" He asked, tilting his head curiously. Delivery? That late? He asked himself. It sounded far more better than anything. Fast food in a heart beat. Meeko's mouth watered. Then he actually realized who he was with once again and laughed at his realization. He felt bad for the person who'd answer, though. He or she would be so scared that would bring whatever he asked for, and suddenly the hunger vanished. "I-I think I'm fine," he smiled, interrupted by a yawn. Meeko leaned back in the couch and watched Hook move around for a minute, wondering what was next.
for me, there’s a level on which i feel strongly a resounding cry of, “fuck ‘it gets better’”. fuck waiting for it to get better. life is good now in the present, wherever you are and no matter the ridiculous set of odds that are most likely stacked against you. make it better in these moments of your life because the goodness of the world is still available to you. it rests behind very thin curtains.

"No. I always knew how to hide my tracks." Hook glanced at the vacuum cleaner knowing he really couldn’t sit down before he had cleaned the apartment. But he didn’t move towards the vacuum cleaner, not yet. "Many of the.. how should I say it.. victims are still missing. Not the persons. The bodies." Hook scratched his chin again as he thought a bit. He was about to say something more, but instead of donig so, he did what he normally did - stayed silent.
"There are many people in the circus I have slept with, and yes, I could’ve picked someone else. But you started it. And on the first time I was drunk. On the second one, well, you just happened to be there. But if I wouldn’t have liked what happened on the first time, second time wouldn’t have happened. Like I said, you’re interesting. And there’s something fiery in you." Then Hook listened the kid’s words, frowned a bit and thought for a bit again. "No, you do. You keep on annoying me until I flip. Yes, I could’ve killed you many times, but there’s more joy of you when you’re alive than dead. That’s rare. I don’t like people. I can’t stand them. So when there happens to be someone who knows how to circle around, well, they’re lucky to be alive."
Meeko listened intently, not helping but to panic a little with each word leaving Hook's mouth about his job. He couldn't stop himself from thinking what would happen if he annoyed the man more than planned, or if he just happened to say something in the wrong way. What would happen to his body? Would he appear somewhere random just waiting to be found? Or maybe he would be one of those 'missing' bodies. He gulped silently and shook his head, getting rid of all those thoughts that were making him nervous and sweaty. He couldn't let Hook know how scared he was in fact, so he kept acting convincingly cool and relaxed.
Meeko was almost glad when Hook answered to his other questions, meaning a change in the subject. He couldn't help the blush on his cheeks when he admitted having liked their first time together, and he looked away, still paying attention to everything he said, even though half of it was hard to believe. It was too good to be true, and suddenly he didn't know if he liked more that he thought that way about him or that he was actually speaking. Hook looked off guard now that they were out of the circus. More relaxed. Meeko couldn't decide if he liked it that either. Not in that moment, at least. "I don't know what should I say... Thank you, maybe?" He murmured after a light scoff. "Anyway..." he sighed. "I'm hungry."

Hook scratched his chin. He actually had wanted to ask the kid’s name at some point, but it was late now. Now he heard it already. Meeko. It was a bit weird name for a boy, but then again, Hook was Carlisle. That was a weird name too, at least in Hook’s ears. Besides, it reminded him of his parents and he didn’t like that even one bit.
"Yes. The longer you are in the so called business, the more you get. Of course, depending of the target you get more or less." The kid already knew Hook was a hitman and he got money from killing, so why not to tell a bit more details? It wasn’t like Shark bait would have any use with the information. Hook raised his eyebrow, then chuckled - this time it was actually without any kind of sarcasm or anything. "I repeat myself, which is really rare; why wouldn’t I?" He looked at Meeko and tilted his head a bit to the left. "I’m a man, I have my needs." Hook stayed silent for a moment, just looking at the younger one. "You are interesting. You are scared, but stupidly brave. You challenge me. Nobody does that."
"Have you ever been caught? Or close to get caught?" He wondered out loud, and when he realized that it was too late, so he just leave it as a question. Hook was answering to everything he was asking. It was an opportunity that only a stupid person would let go. Far from scared about Hook's living, Meeko was curious and he found himself wanting to know more about him, and his life in general. He didn't know if he was going to have the chance to ask everything he wanted in the same day, but he was already making a mental note about it.
Meeko tilted his head at his chuckle and frowned in confusion. "Well, yes. You have your needs, but I'm sure I wasn't your only option those days... I can't be. I'm far from the best option in the circus..." he raised an eyebrow, trying to hold Hook's eye. "Interesting?" he mumbled for himself, feeling a bit flattered by it. "Well, I guess being scared of my own father made me not be so afraid of other people... Guess I expect even worse from them and it's never that bad," he explained even though he wasn't asked for it. "Anyway... I don't challenge you. Not consciously, at least."
Cheers to....!
"Eh.. yeah. I was kind of one of those people she took in as a daughter," Calhoun shrugged and looked at him, pouting a little. "Do not fret, young boy. Red is coming back. She’s just getting fixed. Sorting out legal things. Getting treatment for medical things.”
Meeko smiled widely for a second before it faded. "Medical things? Is she alright?" He asked worriedly. He looked away somehow ashamed of how he'd lived his life during those past months. "I doubt she'd like me if she knew what I've become, though..."

Hook didn’t care would the kid get fired or not. Hook had neved got fired from his job even though he must be the worst worker that someone could even be, but well, Hook had his reputation and people knew how he was. Also few of the ringleaders knew a bit more about him and knew not to pay too much attention on his doings. Probably Shark bait wouldn’t have any problems with being away, since Scar was his friend, or more, Hook didn’t know and right now he didn’t want to think about it that much either.
"Exactly. It’s pretty clean. Not clean enough.” The kid should’ve known by now that there was a reason why Hook’s apartment in the circus was always in perfect condition and shape. Hook hated dust and to keep it away he needed to clean often.
Hook vacuumed the kitchen and turned the vacuum cleaner off after he was done with the kitchen, so he could easily move into the living room. Though he didn’t get the chance to continue the cleaning process when the kid’s voice filled his ears. He turned around to face the other male. “You needed a name. I don’t ask names, because I don’t need them. I don’t care to know names.” Hook crossed his arms over his chest. “Be more specific with the money question. What do you want to know about it? How much I have? Where it came from? Details, lad, details.” Hook could tell more about his money if the kid just wanted to know, but if he didn’t ask right questions, he wouldn’t get answers. “The circus is an alibi.” Then Hook walked closer and leaned his arms on the armchair on his clothes. “Why wouldn’t I?” the man asked and raised his brow. It really was a good question. Why wouldn’t he sleep with him if he felt like it? Besides, Shark bait started it. He was the one who kissed Hook, not the other way around.
"Meeko," he interrupted him. "My name is Meeko..." he mumbled, wanting him to at least know that. He wasn't sure if he knew it already and it was his choice to call him Shark Bait and neither did he know if it was going to stay like that, but at least now he was sure he knew it. "Money. Where does it come from? Is it from... from killing?" Meeko knew the pay at the circus, no matter if it was a big job, wasn't great. They provided the workers with a place to stay, food and from time to time some entertainment, and a few extras here and there, but certainly not enough to have a place like that apartment. "I could list the reasons... First of all, why would you want to have something with a first timer like me? Then, I did kiss you, which means I kind of started it both times, but... why would you go on from there? I was being annoying. Which leads me back to the fifth question, why not killing me instead?"
"Okay…" Scar let it drop though his curiosity raged out of control. He’d gotten a good handle on it, though, and he could eventually let it go, deciding that questioning it would just cause more trouble, and trouble was the last thing he wanted right now, not when everything was starting to fall into place. "You are such a little shit sometimes, you know that?" He let out a soft laugh and shook his head, glancing over at the other man and studying him carefully. He had mannerisms, habits, little ticks, and Scar wanted to learn them all. He was too interested, too curious for his own good. He didn’t care if curiosity killed the cat or whatever. He gave a slight inclination of his head to show he agreed with Meeko, but his mind was elsewhere. He finished off his drink and gave Meeko’s hand a slight squeeze to get his attention before turning to him and leaning in.
"Am I?" He lowered his head and looked at him with a raised eyebrow. Meeko smirked and shook his head after a few seconds, freeing his hand from Scar's just to steal another sip from the man's drink. The burning wasn't so bad with that kind of drink, and even though it wasn't tasty, it was in some way addictive. He missed his touch almost immediately, though, so as soon as he placed the glass in the table again, his fingers found their way back to lace his again. He noticed Charlie's eyes set on him and even though it was making him nervous, he could tell by the way his knees were starting to feel weak, he did nothing about it but keep acting naturally. After a few seconds of silence, Meeko was wondering if the talk had finished, but then a light squeeze on his hand made him turn to him, and before even being able to expect something, the man's lips were on his. Meeko froze for a second before slowly giving into that kiss. His blood started traveling fast through his body and he could feel his heart beat faster than ever as his breath started to fail and he saw himself forced to pull away a few centimeters. He smiled nervously and with his tongue he traced the other's upper lip playfully. "Scotch tastes better on you than drinking it."
Scar couldn’t help but roll his eyes. “Of course I do. I wouldn’t have said it if I didn’t. Come on, keep up.” He browned a little at the jumble of sentences leaving Meeko’s lips, not really able to make sense of them. “What do you mean you didn’t have a choice? And why shouldn’t you be talking about it?” There was a hint of concern in Scar’s voice, despite how much he tried to mask it, and he let out a soft sigh when Mekko changed the subject. “A good Scotch is smooth. Still tastes like liquid fire, I think, but it’s smooth, doesn’t burn as much. Just not as delicious as, say, pizza.” His scrunched up as he shook his head. “I don’t know, you could have told me you had a boyfriend. That would have ended things real fast.”
Meeko smiled. He didn't like to be called cute. His definition of cute was somehow different as everyone else's definition, but for some reason, when Scar said it, it sounded okay. He was allowed. Perhaps he was the only one in the world allowed to call him cute without getting punched right in the face. "It's a... long story. I just..." he sighed and rolled his eyes. "Bad decisions. Nothing too important..." he said and let it trail off. "Pizza? There's nothing better than pizza, mister Xavier. But I understand the example." Meeko scoffed loudly. "A boyfriend? Me? I'm pretty sure you'd know if I had one. I could have made up one, though. You're right. But not even in my head could I picture someone different than you, to be honest."
