Like haha what if you take this Classic Anime Pervert character™ who you’d assume would have Classic Anime Pervert Toxic Masculinity, but made him suspisiously nonchalant about wearing a cutesy little maid dress UwU. What if you took that same character and had him try out for several girls sports teams. What if his only (cannonically trans) friend literally had him be perceived as a girl- THE girl- for a night and it was the best night/pillow fight of his life. Like would that be crazy or what. Like if the main character collected genders like pokemon cards and this random loser shows up on his door asking for guidence and he agrees even though they both kind of hate each other from the jump lowkey, because something just clicks between them, like wouldn’t that inexplicable solidarity be so cisgender. They’ve both felt isolated and confused and a little scared of themselves, they have shared experiences they rarely if ever acknowledge but it’s so extremely important haha and then what if our generic weird perv knew more about the main character then literally anyone outside of his family and what if he risked his life to stop his bestie <3 from being outed to the world by his asshole (british coded) brother that no one else really knows about and what if, like what IF the guy (ya know, “guy”) was kinda apathetic/dissconnected to his own body and doesn’t really care about it outside of it being how he interacts with the world, to the point where he’s a little TOO eager to let people kick him out of it for the slightest favour, and to explore on that a little what if this, hypothetically, only became a problem in the same episode he learned that his loser-frenemy-god can turn into a girl. What if, hypothetically, this character was a pervert, but ALSO raised very relegiously in an actual literal temple and perhaps maybe possibly doesn’t have the best defenition of “pervert”. I think that would break my brain good thing none of that has ever hapened in an anime I love Spoopy Esper Mineta Guy don’t you hahahaha

Thinking about Noelle Holiday and romance in media.

In media, usually the female lead is reduced to being nothing more than an extension of her love interest, the main male character. She doesn’t have opinions or thoughts outside of wanting to ensure the wellbeing of her love interest. She can’t exist without him. She’s just supposed to take whatever shit her love interest gives her. When authors want to make her a strong independent woman, they will often draw attention to her physical strength so she doesn’t look weak or helpless compared to the male protagonist.

In the Weird Route, Noelle becomes physically stronger, but it’s because we’ve psychologically manipulated her into listening to our every word and putting her complete trust in Kris despite the fact we’re making them tell Noelle to kill people. Noelle recognizes that she’s getting stronger. She brushes aside her concerns about the gaps in her memory because Kris is telling her what to do, and she’s getting stronger because they’re telling her what to do, and it’s good that she’s getting stronger, right? But she actually gets weaker. When you meet up with Queen again after all this time, she says that Noelle is in no position to help her, implying the Weird Route has drained her of the determination she needs to open a fake fountain. The Weird Route teaches her to depend on Kris, to take the shit we force them to give her. If you choose to spectate her in Chapter Four after putting the ThornRing onto her, she shakily says “thank you” despite how scared she was when it happened.

Arguably, Noelle gets stronger in the Normal Route where she doesn’t kill anyone. In this route, she goes on an arc where she realizes she doesn’t have to live to appease people. Her determination grows.

Of course I love evey single ship with Kris in it, but i need you guys to know that none of those are becoming canon.

And that's our fault.

I love kris, and i want them to be happy of course, but they literally CANNOT be happy, they can NEVER be a normal teenager if we're possessing them.

In my opinion, Toby fox will keep on hinting at some ships here and there, maybe more blushy kris around Susie, or overall being tender with Ralsei, or whatever Toby is going to do with Berdly or whatever.

But never make them kiss or become official or anything. Because that simply can't happen with us there.

So probably the game will end with only Susie and Noelle becoming a thing, leaving Kris single for their sake. (It's ok Kris, it's not that bad). Or either something big will be hinted at the end of the game that we PURPOSELY will not be able to see.

Because we're not meant to see. After the game ends, what Kris does, who they date, will be none of our business.

And that's ok too. Because at least they will be happy without us.
