Sometimes you just gotta crank out a hard AF workout to snap you out of a long, hard week!! My three year old has had multiple health issues these last 9 weeks—pneumonia, hernia and soon surgery, and severe bladder infection—and it’s not only taken a toll on her poor body but mama is so tired, too. At what point do you finally get sick of of the stories you've been telling yourself as to why you aren't where you want to be? When do you finally look in the mirror and realize, hey, you, YOU are the problem. It took me a long time to stop blaming my weight gain on bad genes, the nearly two years of infertility meds I was on, the baby weight, the slow metabolism. Sure, maybe some of those things contributed to my weight gain, but let's be honest: it was the fact that I was eating shitty foods and eating too damn much of them. The problem was ME, y'all. ME. So I ask you this: what does it take for you to get sick of the things you keep telling yourself as to why you aren't where you want to be in your health & fitness, your job, your relationships, LIFE? It's not easy to blame yourself. After all, we're often our own number one fans 🙂. But sometimes, you gotta be self-aware, introspective to see that all those lies you keep telling yourself are exactly why you're stuck in the place you so desperately want to get out of. On the last day of vacation last week, I asked my six year old daughter to snap some pics of me. Why? Because that morning as I was going through the photos I'd taken earlier in the week, something was glaringly missing: any photos of me. ——————————————— I have a feeling this is the case for most moms. We're always the ones snapping pics of our kids, dogs, spouses with the kids, whatever. And then we look back and there's not a single one of us in the moment, hugging our littles, kissing our hubs, or just us, in our element. And if we are lucky enough to make it into the pics, so many times we're hiding behind our kids strategically placing them in front of the parts of our bodies we want to hide or that we can't those on imagine social media seeing. ——————————————— It wasn't really until this year that I decided I was tired of not being a part of my family's "story." Even though they might not think it, I didn't want my girls to look back on pics 20 years from now and wonder if Mom wasn't in any of the vacation pics because she was too embarrassed about her body or that she didn't have makeup on or that her hair was turning gray (cause let's be honest, the amount of gray these days is bananas). I want my girls to look back on pics like this one and think, "Holy shit, Mom had serious confidence to rock a dang bikini at almost 39 after two years of infertility treatments and two babies! How awesome is that?" ——————————————— Looking back at our vacay pics, I am so happy I took these pics. They mark a really amazing trip with my hubs and girls and inlaws and I am so, so blessed to have caught it on camera. Stop hiding from your memories.
