7/27/2026. Drawn with Platinum Plaisir fountain pen, using Noodler's Ink. No pencil underdrawing, so fixed some things digitally in Krita. Drew too close to top of sketchbook page, so taped extra paper to top of Claude's head. Had to blend edge digitally in Krita. Colored with Copic markers.

7/27/2026. Pencil underdrawing. Inked with Stabillo 88 and Marvy Le Pen technical pens. After erased pencil, colored with Copic markers and ShinHan Art Touch marker. A little lighting adjustment, digitally in Krita.

I was going to draw the entire Golden Deer, but I got tired. Also, I am extremely out of practice with drawing, and I'm still unfamiliar with how to draw FE3H characters besides Claude and Dimitri. So I got only as far as the Golden Deer Trio, then added Dimitri for the sake of my dimiclaude ship.

Roger Ebert sketch

Got a little annoyed with a quote from Roger Ebert, wrote a thing about it, but beginning to suspect that using Tumblr gifs, alerts the gif makers to my posts. So using a pic of Roger Ebert that I drew myself instead.

Also, I need to prove to myself that I can bang out a sketch, quickly, without really trying. What better than a subject I'm not too fond of, at this moment? (I'm sure, later, I'll see an Ebert quote I'm not annoyed with and remember why we all respected him.)

Maybe I'll go back and color them. But I'll need to run some tests first, to see what would and wouldn't make my ink bleed. I would prefer not to use up my Copic ink on these doodles, when I have so much acrylic ink. But I'll have to run a test first, overlapping Noodler's Ink with FW acrylic ink.

I wanted to see Rocky do a proper thumbs up, since before I watched the movie, I'd only seen trailers of him getting it wrong.

Then the day after drawing this, I finally watched Project Hail Mary for the first time, and the thumbs down turned into this endearing in-joke between Grace and Rocky. So later, I'll draw Rocky doing the "more proper" "thumbs up" (AKA Earth's thumbs down).

Ever since MerMay 2025, I've found it really relaxing to doodle mermaids. Just making up OCs on the spot, alleviates the pressure of matching a character design with fanart. Drawing the repetitive scales is cathartic. And drawing random, swooping lines for a tail and fins is fun and so much easier than drawing the lower half of the body as human legs. These originally started out as chibi, so the faces and hands are super simple. But I don't think these proportions are chibi anymore. I don't know what they are. But doodling mermaids like this, even outside of May, is really relaxing.

Tulip sketch for Mother's Day card 2026.

5/9-10/2026. Drawn in Copic and ShinHanArt Touch markers. No pencil underdrawing. Referenced my photo from Descanso Gardens during their tulip season. Digitally adjusted lighting in Krita, since my scanner shifted the hue towards reds, while my drawing was originally oranges.

I thought it was a ranunculus planted among the tulip beds, since there were some foxgloves and daffodils mixed in with the tulips too. But according to The Blooming Backyard (https://www.bloomingbackyard.com/tulip-types/) these seem to be a variety of tulips called "double early tulips".

Lancelot and Guinevere fanart.

I was writing a post about how fandom shipping can become so prevalent that people later think a non-canon ship is canon. It reminded me of Lancelot and Guinevere, and hearing that they were originally non-canon, but their ship just became so popular that now it's considered canon to the Arthurian Legends.

I thought I'd doodle a quick picture to accompany my post.

The Lancelot is a redraw of a photo from Google Images.

The Guinevere was originally a sketch I did of my posed Figma Archetype She. But it looked really bad. So I tried another drawing of her, using the simplified, monochrome, minimalist, silhouette style that I usually use for witches. But I was too chicken to paint in the solid areas with ink, because it looked kind of nice as just linework. So I filled in the black areas, digitally in Krita.

Mistakes corrected with Daler Rowney FW “White” acrylic ink and paint brush, and digitally in Krita. Solid black areas filled-in digitally in Krita.
