Calisto was not the type to take orders usually. She preferred giving them. Playing the director of someone else’s plan was a different and uncomfortable position for her, but she’d do it for the sake of her Morlocks — and perhaps a little bit of pleasure in seeing someone who would so eagerly destroy them suffering a little bit.
She didn’t trust Mystique as far as even Subder could throw her, but this made sense. She’d play along with it for now. Plus, it gave some of the Morlocks a chance to get out their aggression on something other than each other.
She heard the boy approach before she saw him. She’d been prepared for a fight, of course. But maybe not with a kid.
“Get here out of here.” She said, nodding to the Morlocks holding onto their hostage. I’ll deal with this.
How she was going to do that, she didn’t know. Heartless as Cal could come across, that wasn’t totally the case. This boy didn’t look like he could be much older than her Sarah. That alone gave her some hesitation to joy just draw her knife on him.
“Nothing that concerns you, kid.” She said, turning to face him. “Run along now.”
“It concerns me if you are going to hurt someone. That’s only going to prove them right about us.” Not hard to miss the more obvious of mutations among them. And yeah he had a moment of indecision.
Why should he help someone that would be happy to see every mutant with power suppressors and locked up in detention center. But he could see Teddy’s face in his mind. He knew how people could and would spin this. Using it as an example of exactly what it was, ‘dangerous mutants’ hurting (not so innocent) human. But if a mutant stood up to them, maybe just maybe it would help.
“Sealthedoorsshutsealthedoorsshutsealthedoorsshut,” Billy murmured quickly as he spread his hands out. If he did it quick enough it would prevent them from getting away with her, making the doors unable to be opened.
“I don’t want to hurt you, but I can’t let you do this. Please, just put her down and I’ll open the doors back up.” Careful to keep some distance between them just in case he needed to dodge.
