Some experts believe that IMT 2000 is about to provide higher rate of data transmission, i.e. around 2 Mbit/s for walking or stationary users and around 384 kbit/s to the mobile vehicles. The minimum rates required are not be specified clearly by the ITU. Several telecom companies define 3G to provide from 2 Mbit/s to 28 Mbit/s of speed. 

Security

As compared to 2G networks, 3G is known to provide higher speed. When User Equipment (UE) is allowed to authenticate the network, the network can easily assured as an intended one, instead of being impersonator. For security, KASUMI block cipher is used in 3G networks, in place of older stream ciphers. When it comes to infrastructure security in this network, various end-to-end security features are provided when IMS and other frameworks are accessed. 

Evolution

Both 3GPP2 and 3GPP are currently being operated on 3G standards and they are relied on all-inclusive IP network infrastructure. They are implementing cutting-edge wireless networks like MIMO. Such standards will also show features for 4G or IMT advanced technology. Such standards are known as Pre-4G or 3.9G because of having low bandwidth.
