Biography

Emrys grew up in a small farm town in the US. Nothing out of the ordinary, his parents were both adorable people, and he learned a lot about respecting life and surviving. Good in science , he chose a more order following path after graduation.

Emrys joined the military and trained to be a sniper and do reconnaissance. He joined Lee’s squad. That’s how they met and became quite close. The day they lost their squad, Emrys really wanted to postpone the mission, a gut feeling. That day he really thought Lee had died.

After this incident, he decided to retire and was hired by Shield. He was present as an escort when the bomb went off in Washington. He died that day, for the world he did. Shield however had other plans. They brought him back through the T.A.H.I.T.I protocol and he really wish they didn’t. No memory of what had happened, but living in a state of severe psychosis, he was considered a failure.

Yet Emrys proved them wrong. Lee found him, it gave him hope. Enough to get better and become an active agent again. On a mission to stop the Blue Crystals at a powerplant. He and Lee were exposed to theTerrigen Mist.  The both were placed in isolation cells. Emrys became painfully aware that his new found powers of air manipulation might just kill him. After several surgeries he was finally released.

The skrull war was hard on him, and his mind especially. However he did his best to be an asset for the resistance. After the war, he signed up for SWORD, thinking bout joining HATE but just going with his now husband. Life seems good for Em now, the meds make it so he can have a normal life.

Hmm... It was going to be difficult to explain, this time Groot could see it. "I am Groot." He answered with a shake of the head and started to think about it. "I am Groot!" He tried, while miming taking a deep breath with both his head and arms.

The gears were really turning at full speed at this point. He was never the best at charades, but he was focusing on trying to understand. " Is it...for me to...breathe? " he attempted.

Hm, he didn't look that fine, it worried a bit the gentle giant. Groot wasn't so sure of what he could do to help, thinking a minute about it, he finally created some flowers. Those ones were not from Earth but had some strong medical benefits. "I am Groot." He tried to explain while offering them to Em. He was supposed to infuse them with some very hot water and then breathe the steam of it, but not drink it!

It took a solid time for the information to get to Em's brain, mostly because he was in a haze and just completly zoning out. "Huh ? that's for me ? " he asked , taking the flowers. He tried to smell it, but he could not smell at all and just sneezed so hard, he really thought his rib would pop out. "Ugh" he leaned back. "On Earth we offer flowers to like, wish well, is that what you're doing ...or ?"

"Huh ? ...Yes....I'mfine" Em replied, even if he redid his scarf and hugged himself a bit tighter. The nose was red, and honestly he felt like he was going to sneeze at any second. Who would have thought that you could get sick on a space station.

Verity was staring at the void while listening to the man, sharing glances here and then. "I don't think I was expecting much, I was used to hate space, but only because of all the media narrating it. Star Wars, Star Trek, Stargate, Galactica... all this crap. But now that I see it's really... I do like it, it sounds... better." She shared before drinking some of her latte. "Is your husband also on the Peak? Or are you like those sailors guys, leaving for months to explore the sea?"

Em listened to her reply while sipping on his bewerage. He was not sure he knew all the shows she was mentionning, not that he didn't like scifi, he just preferred written scifi then tv scifi. All in all, it came to the same ideas. "That is because scifi is meant as a warning and a critique of our society, how we are reproducing the same mistakes even though we have the greatest potential for great things and discoveries. The story could be on a foreign planet, but feels relatable because it must be so for you to understand its problems. " he explained. "And real space is not an Earth concept. It's does not care about a blue planet. " he added as he was just following the thoughts he had and why he also had shared the same sentiment. "Yes he is, it's Lee Saunders. You've probably encountered him, he's very handsome and charismatic ...thinks he has a great sense of humor. "

Big smile on Groot's face, the gently coloss was as happy as he looked. It wasn't everyday that he could share his garden with someone else, most of the time they were busy, working. "I am Groot!" He led the way before stealing two hours of Emrys' agenda to explain and show him all the varieties he had there, sometimes giving him the time to smell it or really really look at it.

"Sounds handy, thanks." She replied while taking her latte before looking a bit around them. "Hum, maybe somewhere else? With fewer people and everything, so you don't have to maintain your ability?" She offered and started to lead them out of the cafeteria. "Soo... Is space meeting your expectations of it?"

"Sure...after you. " He followed until they arrived in a resting area, benches, some plants, a big window into space. He sat down and slurped on his beverage. "My expectations were to find an absence of things: of life, of air , of everything we have on Earth. But actually, space has more life than one might think. Or maybe I prefer space to Earth. " he admitted. "My husband would say space made me a philosopher. And you ?"

Emrys bit his lip. Sometimes he felt like he was on the show Lassie, trying to understand the barks of the dog. He had always found it highly amusing how the actors were forming full Kuzko sentences out of barks. Now here he was, trying to tap into every bid of communication knowledge he had to feel what was being said. "I would love to. " He wasn't really a plant guy, but he gathered that Groot wanted to show him something more personal.

"So you do collect limbs..it's not just Mr Barnes' arm you want" Emrys concluded a bit ...not reassured by the fact that he could steal his limbs that easily. "But please don't ? I know you do what you want, but I'd rather not be back in an operating room... too much medical trauma associated." he asked frankly. He learned to not be ashamed to put boundaries, and it usually worked. " So has the ventilation problem been resolved?"

Emrys showed as much happiness as he physically could when his husband agreed , which almost looked a steppy step next to him. "Well, I'm pretty sure we'll be lucky today, I can feel it." he stated only to stand a couple of minutes later in front of an empty shelf. "I guess...I saw that wrong..."

Following and leaving the social interaction to Emrys, Verity silently appreciated and continued to focus on his feet. At his hand on her arm, she moved, questioning him by her look, and got her answer two seconds later. “Wow…” She quietly said. “How did you…?” She asked, a bit confused but also amused by it.

"Intuition... I saw it coming. " He replied staying vague on the notion. He took the two cups and handed Verity her latte. "Do you want to remain here or shall we go somewhere else."

“Well first we’re gonna stop at the store, and if you don’t tell me what you want you’re gonna have to wait and see what we have,” he mused, lacing their fingers together and gently guiding him outside.

Thankfully a billionaire had build this station which ressembled more a city than an HQ. "Mhhh, something with chicken, pasta and a looot of cheese" he demanded with as much as he could do to smile. "Aaand for dessert, I hope they still have those apple pies. " he added, his mind already in the heavens of food.

“Both… probably both.” She confessed and followed him in the queue, staying behind him, more focused on his feet than on everything else. Crowds were loud, people were loud and most of the time they were sharing their stories, their lies, especially in a queue to pass time. Getting ready to deal with that kind of disagreement, Verity got surprised by this silence, making her raise her attention to people around them, and then on Emrys. “Wow… that’s… awesome.” She whispered, not sure why she was whispering. “Thanks… it definitively helps.” Verity added with a soft smile, still staying behind him.

"You're welcome" he whispered as well. Moving along the queue until it was their turn. "I'll get a redberry smoothie and - " he looked at Verity to know what she wanted. "And a green tea latte, thanks." he badged his bracelet and they moved along the queue to the waiting area. His synthethic eye flickered. He gently took Verity's arm and pulled her towards him. Not even 2 seconds later someone bumped into another agent and spilled his coffee exactly where she would have been standing.

“Infinity, but I think yours fits us a bit better.” Lee grinned, catching Emrys’ hand and pressing a soft kiss to his knuckles. “We’ll go get some food and get you home to rest. You didn’t, but my day’s been slow. I’m good, pretty boy.”

If Em could purr, he would purr. He squeezed the hand and caressed the back with his thumb. "That sounds like the best idea of the day. I'm glad you had a boring day. So what are you going to cook us? "

“We’ll make it happen. Surely they’ve got enough hands to go around down here, they don’t need us too.” Of course they were needed down here, at least occasionally. Lee took the napkin with a low hum, looking over it just to see if it had any patterns before shaking his head. “We should pick you up a little notepad, easier to keep track of than napkins. How are you feeling?”

"To the stars and beyond." Em joked. He wasn't really sure it were the right words Buzz had used, but that's all he remembered. "Well, like I said, I'm exhausted, I'm sore and I'm hungry and at the end of my shift. And like I said I only registered now that this woman said I had a bitching resting face. How are you doing ? Did I ask you that already ? I'm not sure---"

“Ah cool. Well no it keeps people away , you know ? I’m not good at …people stuff. It makes me panic. Anyway, I brought you something from my last trip to Earth, I know you had pointed at it in a magazine last time…so…there you go.” Em handed him a Dahlia in a pot. It had a vibrant orange, yellow and tint of red color. “I…I …it’s a …a thank you… for …spending time with me. I think I got my husband a bit insane while choosing it but…yeah…I hope you like it.”

Oh so it wasn’t a good thing. “I am Groot.” Sympathized and let his attention drift on what Emrys offered him. Joy was an universal expression and it was really easy to read it on Groot’s face. He loved them. “I am Groot!” He first thanked the man before taking the pot and looking at the flower. “I am Groot.” He gently greeted them, so glad, still acting like a kid on a Christmas eve. “I am Groot.” He added for Emrys, big smile still on, before gently putting down the flower. “I am Groot.” He explained, starting to act a little bit nerdy on the flower subject. “I am Groot.” Groot added, because yeah those details were important.

Emrys was smiling. He was not really sure what he was saying , like usual, but he also found that going with what he seemed to convey was easier. "They said it should not have direct sun but it shouldn't be a problem here. "

        “Could head back to the stars, don’t gotta play guard out there.” Even Lee’s demeanor shifted for the barest second his smile never faltered. He nodded slightly, pulling out an old phone he’d messed with enough that most days it was a miracle he could get into it himself. “Want to talk about it?”

“Hopefully soon.”  Em liked being on the field. His mind was quiet when he could focus on his job. There were no social interaction, just work. Em made a face , he just took a napkin out and gave it to Lee. As usual, it had nonesense written on it. “I am not sure how I managed to not rip it with the pen... I don’t remember the rest.”
