I said this when we watched it together but I do think they did characters like Ophelia and Horatio incredibly well there . The hamlet just sucks so so so bad that it sucks the life out of you to watch it and you age 40 years by the time the movie finishes .

ophelia that is a little more silly and witty and mischievous with hamlet than the pure and innocent face she's forced to wear in public...... like her little bite at laertes didn't come out of nowhere, i like the idea of her being a little more free behind closed doors.

them stealing wine out of the kitchen and sneaking out into the grounds to have a little picnic. ophelia teasing him when he shelters in her room after a bad dream. he says something in her ear and she swats at him with a laugh.
