;) Welcome back I will try to post one of these every Thursday. Enjoy! About Naked Shitty is an ongoing project by a satirical artist living in Athens, Greece who acts in anonymity. Naked Shitty is mostly a rip-off of 'Naked City'. I manipulate other material too, as I occasionally fish in pages of magazines and newspapers. 'Naked City' is a full page naked photo article in a youth culture magazine-city guide, published weekly in Athens, Greece, called Lifo. I create all interventions/manipulations working by hand with brushes upon the printed paper of the page. I use acrylics and also watercolor. Sometimes colored pencils and china. Why Naked Shitty? Working on Naked Shitty, I primarily aim to correct what I consider a major lack of these photos. The fact that they don't deliver what they promise. Even though they call it 'Naked City', in most cases, the colleagues at Lifo will ridiculously not depict genitals. I explain the ruling out of genitalia in (most of) the nude content as fear of offending the public. Their decision also expresses an outdated practice of an 'embellishment of the body' not uncommon in cases of censorship by state and religion. The un-nude nudes refuse to take a stand in the discourses of a society that has never experienced a sexual revolution, and desperately needs one. Secondarily, I try to contribute to these naked photos another two things they lack: humor -to me its unforgiven to go without humor-; and sexiness, which I consider a welcome bonus to the viewer. Since the photographs are not realistic by default, they might at least be funnily sexy. It goes without saying, the ones that surprise me by having the above prerequisites, I leave as they are. Last, I would like to address my targets. The numerous people whose public image I tangle with my brush: Guys, thank you!
