Dear Kyoya, How have you been? I miss you and your brother dearly. Have you caught any more pokémon? How is your adventure going? It's very lonely and quiet without you two around. Well, I better wrap this up quickly should my pokémon throw a fit. I promised Milotic a swim before it gets too cold. I love you Kyoya, take care of yourself. Dad ♥
A warm day, almost hot, in late spring. He’d stopped checking his inbox long ago— no one ever sent anything anyway, and he hadn’t even seen his family in months. Anyone else found him too irritable to talk to, or else too distant or abstruse. Though he had moved south from their home in Icirrus, even there it must be truly warm now. All this only pained him as he thought of how long this message, long unnoticed from his father, had been forgotten.
Gathering his courage, he closed the reply window. He almost turned his messenger off, until guilt again stung him. Opening the call application, he paused as he received a prompt for voicemail.
"Father—"
Hesitation.
"Dear, Father." He swallowed, struggling for the proper words. "I am doing well. It is spring now, and I’m sorry to have overlooked your message for so long. Einz is still with me, and he’s already a Zweilous. I like the sun, but I admit that I miss the snow, our home— and you, and Brother too. I’m trying hard to achieve my objective, but I hope… I hope to return home soon."
Pause.
"Please, do not worry about me."
