Brokeback Mountain... 15 Years...

Brokeback Mountain (2005; dir. Ang Lee) turns 15 years old today. I can barely put into words how much this film means to me. It’s my all-time favourite film for so many reasons.

Love truly is a force of nature, and nothing could have prepared me for the way this film would impact me and so many others. A film like this had never been seen before. When you love someone so much it hurts. When you can’t bare to be away from them for a second. When you can’t imagine your life without them, no matter how much you want to.

And I had never seen before just how destructive homophobia was and still is...

Jake I’m so proud of everything you’ve achieved in the 15 years since the film came out. Heath, I love you and miss you every single day. The world has never been the same since you passed away. Thank you both of you for helping to create such a beautiful masterpiece.
