if kaito is the drive to save oneself, then miku is the desire to be saved. or even, the hope that you can be saved.

she came into being as mafuyu's only source of comfort, the one anomaly in a sekai made of pain. i think at that point, she embodied the glimmer of hope from when mafuyu first discovered kanade's music (which we see in depths of despair, an event featuring miku.) in the main story, miku opposed mafuyu, who only wanted to disappear, by continually letting the others into sekai until they managed to talk her down.

in the engeki event, miku and kaito are both by mafuyu's side during the climax. mafuyu saves herself by finally confronting her mother and choosing to leave that abusive home behind. but she also is saved by her friends. who showed her how to hold onto her own desires? who told her it's okay to run away? who gave her a safe place to run to?

and... who brought all of those people into her world to begin with?
