Deactivating my twitter and instagram accounts might’ve been one of my smartest decision in 2019. Netflix, on the other hand, that’s the one I’m sometimes still tempted to return to, but I know it leads down a dark, unproductive path. I suppose my blog is the only social media presence I’m entering this new decade with, so, for better or for worse - Happy New Year guys, make the most of it, work hard, and don’t forget to take a day off once in a while.

Ashamed to say I’m rather attached to my phone. I don’t think I could deactivate everything. I like a good book as much as the next guy but I have to have my daily hit of social media! But good luck!

Hit the nail on the head there bud. The numbers are all nice and even but I still can’t look at the year without seeing eyes. Straight up feels like I’m being side eyed everywhere!

Like a rollercoaster ! Right?? When people say ups & downs it’s kinda like that! Where did people not call out? People who always work are cops, firefighters, doctors and nurses, & like the charas in Times Square who do photo ops! So you could really be talkin about anythang either way I appreciate yo service to society, pal!!

Definitely like a roller-coaster, I feel like I’m on a high speed one most days even. I’m a social worker and sometimes a family will have a crisis and I have to go and let’s say help them out. Holidays I usually get one or two calls either just to talk to someone or a big emergency so I’m happy none of my families had a bad day. Thanks man, I try to help as many people as I can.

2019 was full of ups and downs but I’m very happy to say I had no emergency call outs on New Years Eve this year so starting off 2020 a happy guy.

Growing up Nate was a quiet child; he enjoyed superhero comics and coloring books and developed a love for baseball and soccer as soon as he was old enough to play. Nothing much bothered Nate meaning he didn’t require much attention from his parents, though his dad would always pitch balls for him when he was around.

Entering high school Nate became more social and became quite popular once he was on the baseball and soccer teams. He dated cheerleaders and went to high school parties trying to make his own friends and not be seen as trouble like his brother Brian.

Nate wasn’t the smartest kid in his class but his ability to read people was what made him. Maybe he wasn’t great at math or science but reading between the lines is his specialty.

When it comes to people it takes Nate a while to trust, it is something he doesn’t give freely but once you’re on his side he will be there for you come what may unless you break his trust then you will never get it back.

Nate does not quite fit the “chivalrous, bold and brave” personality of the Hudson men; instead, he would be described as “doing the wrong thing for the right reason”. Often in his job, Nate will follow his gut rather than procedure but he will never go right for the fight he watches and listens waiting for the smartest moment.

Growing up Nate saw the many problems his mom faced as his father would come and go from their lives as he pleased and how hard she had to work to keep Brian in line and he took her hard work to heart. With their father so often out of the picture, Nate and Liam spent much of their time trying to raise their younger siblings and keep Brian on the strait and narrow. In his role as a pseudo parent for Brian, Nate would often see other kids struggling to support their siblings and many of them had it much worse. At least they had their Mom, many of these kids had no real parent with a source of income and it broke Nate’s heart.

With support from his guidance counselor in high school Nate was honored with a place at Columbia to study social work to eventually become a family services worker. He was only able to leave his siblings knowing Liam was there to help their mother and getting a job in New York that let him send home money to help the family. Last year Nate completed his degree in Social Work and is finally able to be out there making a difference in even the smallest ways.

Unfortunately, Nate has a habit of partying when things get tough or he needs a break and one day that could land him in trouble with his job even though so far he has managed to keep that part of his life separated from work he needs to find a better outlet than drinking and sleeping with nameless people.

↪ IMPORTANT CONNECTIONS:

EMMA & DAVID HUDSON (Parents): Nate’s relationship with his parents has definitely had its ups and downs. He resents his father for the way he comes and goes from their lives and was often upset his mother kept letting him back in after the way he treated them by flitting in and out. It was painful but as he got older and especially once he started college he realized many of his father’s behaviors were due to PTSD from the army and his mom was doing her best to support the man. Nate knows how hard his mother works at the hospital to financially support her children but he did resent her for a long time because he was left to watch his younger siblings (with Liam’s help once he was old enough.) LIAM & BRIAN HUDSON (Siblings): Nate was never quite as perfect as Liam. He finds his brother to be very uptight and prefers to live in the moment and relax. While Liam was so overly chivalrous and Brian was often getting into fights, Nate would keep to himself and his friends and enjoy his time in school. Nate wasn’t as close with his Mom as Liam was and left straight from High School to NYC to college. BENJAMIN & POSIE HUDSON (Siblings): Nate still sees his younger siblings as kids despite them being adults which no doubt drives the two crazy but he’s happy at least one of them is also in New York and therefore is rather close to Ben. FINN HUDSON (Cousin): Nate’s father always seemed to be in and out of the picture which unfortunately meant Nate and Finn weren’t as close growing up as they could have been. One of Nate’s favorite things about Finn coming home from the Army and to New York meant they could rekindle their friendship from their youth and support each other, particularly in the case of Nate helping Finn with his PTSD.
