Oh. My. Goodness.
Wow, James Bay took off so much faster than I thought he would; this cover is pretty neat.
This guy is a blend of several popular artists. Beast.
Damn...
I can’t stand the spaghetti fingers and awful technique, but the sound though... The JAZZ THOUGH!
The Top 10
Hello Tumblr,
I was challenged by a friend to come up with a "top-10 favourite songs of all time" list. Being the nerd that I am, I gave him one of those spiels about how it's not possible to have a top 10 for me due to the nature of music and how it transcends human emotion, and blah blah blah... But then I thought to myself, what if I was backed into a corner and was forced to give a top 10? So I saw it as a challenge.
You'll notice how my favorites, as a whole, have a trend of coming from the same albums. I listen to albums typically to try to find the message that runs throughout the whole thing, and not just single out individual songs.
A week later, I actually discovered a lot about myself in this search. I find that a lot of our "top 10s" would include more songs that are on the "sad" tone. I think this is the case because a lot of times when we go through defining moments of our lives, or times that shape us, we're unable to put feelings into words. So when we find a song that seems to describe our exact feelings, we latch onto that song. Just my thoughts.
Here's the list (in no particular order):
1. Jason Mraz - Song For A Friend (far and away my favorite song)
2. MisterWives - Reflections
3. Keane - We Might As Well Be Strangers
4. Christina Aguilera - The Voice Within
5. Jason Mraz - Unfold
6. Jason Mraz - 1000 Things
7. U2 - Stuck In A Moment You Can't Get Out Of
8. tobyMac - Lose My Soul
9. U2 - With Or Without You
10. Hillsong United - There Is Nothing Like
Honorable mention: The Head and The Heart - Rivers and Roads
Ask me in a week, this list will probably change. But as of now, I'd say this is pretty accurate.
What's yours? A top-10 list isn't supposed to speak to the variety of genres of music you listen to. The list is supposed to comprise of songs that define you.
I'd love to see your list!
What an incredible privilege. Congratulations, friends. #chrisplusoli

All Planned
When I coached with AIA last week, I had a conversation with a 12 year old during lunch about a question he had. As this kid is the smartest kid I've ever met (he knew the way to my heart - by bringing me drinks everyday), he asked that if we are Christians, do we have to go to church?
I was blown away by his maturity in asking this question, and I can't even remember much of what I said, but I knew he was processing my response in his head when I gave the suggestion that we, as the Church, should be inclined to be with other Christians, to do life together with other Christians. In essence, I was saying that if we are authentic Christians, we would go to church because we want to, not necessarily because we have to.
Several other kids joined in on the conversation and, boy, we went places with that. However, it's irrelevent to this post. Hehe.
So now that I'm sitting here preparing for my sermon tomorrow, this experience worked perfectly into an illustration for tomorrow.
Man, I love how things just work together like this.
Here we go again. #YVR #stillfeelingstressed
Doing the sermon prep at McD's. Big weekend coming up! Let's see how it unfolds #jobontheline

See you in a few weeks Vancouver!
Creation or Continuation
Do I want to create my own little monster (high risk, high reward) or take on something where the infrastructure is already built and just see it through to fruition?
THE CHOICES, THOUGH!
I guess with everything else being equal, pay factors into it too. Sigh...
Not a very original melody, but I like it! It's a jam.
