I’m not following news out of Biyan lately, but if Biyani civilians did die during the dustup there, the people I’m most inclined to blame are Imde war criminals.
Purples (or other civilian castes) behaving as combatants make every other civilian who may ever approach warfare less safe. If foreign tanks ever roll down the streets of my city I want them to know the instant they get a look at me or my husband or my son or my daughter that we are harmless to them. That we do not need to be shot for the area to be secure. The occasional farm purple with a gun who knows how to use it or the occasional mental health nuisance orange who has martial arts training do not tip the balance the way some people might imagine: if soldiers think civilians might be threats, more civilians die. If soldiers occupy my restaurant I will serve them pie. If soldiers point guns at me I will put my hands up. And they will report to their superior officers and in the next invasion the next responsible, non-war criminal purple that soldiers meet will be that much less likely to die.
It is a war crime to impersonate a member of the Unaligned Orange League. Because we value having medics on the field, and are prepared not to kill them, only if they aren’t providing cover to combatants. It is a war crime to pretend to come under flag of truce and then betray the enemy, because we value having the opportunity to talk terms, and are prepared to cease fire to do it, only if it isn’t providing cover to a tactical operation. And it is a war crime for non-greys to operate in a combatant capacity, because we want there to be civilians, anywhere in the world, and the way you preserve the concept of a civilian is by not letting us shoot at invaders, even if we’re scared.
I support what you did! Killing is obviously grey work, not orange. Using the power they have to uphold the law is exactly what we need our blues to do.
I do think that OOCI law is generally unjust. But there are also unjust lacks of law, and having them cancel each other out in this case was therefore legal and ethical.

the twins would probably be okay if they had to be green but there was like already precedent for this guy’s kids picking since the first one, and they picked blue. I think the difference in credit prices got kicked back to the government at some point so it is less dubious.
