if you wanna keep seeing smut fics/any other mature content, you must go to your settings, go to “content you see,” and hit “show” for mature content! otherwise, those dirty fics & other content with the mature community label will be hidden completely from your view, as if they don’t exist. this is going to make it difficult for fic writers/other mature content creators to get their work seen on the site, so please make others aware to change their settings so they can continue seeing it.

apparently tumblr is making us do that now or they’ll add them for us, and if they add them for us, we can’t take the labels off or edit them. that’s if it’s missing the label and if they deem it’s mature & needs said label. and yes, reblogs of mature content apparently need a label, too. i found all of this info at the tumblr help desk, so if you wanna read more on it, i suggest going over there and checking it out!

please spread the word, so that others know, too! because this has apparently been in place for almost a week, and i knew nothing of it until last night.

okay tumblr’s exclusion from the twitter social media ban list is hilarious but genuinely we do not belong on there. if a real human person asks “where can i find you on social media” and your choice is a swift death or revealing your tumblr, most of us would simply expire. half of y’all change urls every week like you’re in witness protection. just imagine for one second attaching your wholeass government name to your latest two am clownposting and tell me that didn’t send a cold chill down your spine. the only place i ever want to see the words “connect with me on tumblr!” is on the ao3 profile of an author i’m actively stalking. anyone in the world can follow me except anyone i personally know. antisocial media.

why should you change it?

When you guys pop up in our notifications, most seasoned tumblr users will suspect you’re a bot and block on sight.

why do we block immediately?

tumblr has a history of bots trying to infiltrate and establish a connection to a valid, existing blog in order to populate google searches. Simply liking or reblogging a post, not just adding a scam link to it, establishes this connection. Tumblr users don’t want this to happen, especially if it’s a scammy p*rn bot. So, we often block on sight.

So now I have to reblog stuff AND change my pfp?

Well, of course that’s up to you! I just want to explain why you may have been already blocked by an artist/blogger you may have discovered recently, and how you can avoid it in the future.

Reblogging does help creators more than likes because your reblogs will show up on the dash of those that may follow you. Plus, reblogging puts that post on your own blog, and in case the original gets deleted or edited by the OP, it’ll be on your blog like that–forever (or until you delete your blog). Nice.
