i would like to note that even though ivy believes she's a fist of nature, truly does act & present herself like it———the green is ... impartial. because nature doesn't really care about the individual, it doesn't answer prayer or play favorites, it just is. and i think pam struggled a lot with that in her youth (after becoming poison ivy) because she grew up in a home where she was treated as less than, and to feel like she was 'chosen' to be apart of this greater purpose in life.. in the world.. and then just to become secondary / un-special too, hurts a lot. i know it's something she struggles with a lot when it comes to her self-image & thus, fueling her rage. i also think it's the reason she goes so hard for the things / beings she creates; she never wants them to feel like she felt but.. y'know..

with the heroes that i write i usually have a primary suit that they wear in threads but with ivy... i feel like her clothing / coverings change too much in conversation / action for me to describe fully. i collaged some things but.. i still feel like it's both not enough & too much.
my mother’s wrath is mine to hold. the relationship between pamela & the green is comparable to god & christ in position, but not nearly as close in message. while jesus was a peaceful message, ivy tries to be anything but——————she’s in belief that this is what her god wants. retribution in action (violence) to create change rather than helpful teachings… she doesn’t believe in mercy, not anymore. if anything she believes this is mercy, absolution at her hands rather than humanity’s is peace. it’s pure. it’s quick. it’s methodical. it’s peace. true peace. one that people could not come to on their own without … complications (ie. emotion—based decision making, the part of herself which she loathes the most).
this ideology haunts her narrative throughout her life. since she was a child to be specific. her emotions, previous medical / physical condition, even gender where treated like a hindrance by society…. making her harbor so much hatred that it only a matter of time before she became the perfect vessel for the green’s agenda. the green has been with her.. for as long as she can remember so she truly thinks to most if not all of her hardship & ‘success’ to it.
i did not wish for this. contrary to popular belief, she does not like / want to harm others————it doesn’t bring her any sense of joy or satisfaction to know her hands are forever stained with the bold of the guilty, as well as the innocent. but violence has suddenly become a first resort. it must be done. it will be done. (she does .) it’s believed that this was a product of her environment, as well as influence from the green & how war-torn humanity has always been. the language of violence is universal. always has been. so why not speak it?
yin v. yang. her relationship with the green is different than swamp thing. while swamp thing is grotesque & gentleness / the yin, while ivy remains it’s beauty & wrath / the yang. (see above for ‘wrath’.) it’s a timeless & near balanced relationship, and thus one cannot exist without the other. the green cannot exist without it’s arms, and the arms cannot exist without the green. however.. there is an imbalance. the green had not and WILL NOT trust ivy fully (see TL;DR below) so ivy is not technically named a fully avatar of the trees, like swamp thing is. this creates far more tension between the two than ivy likes to admit, so much so that ivy can’t bare the sight of him sometimes.
what is the true mission? terra’s renewal on a planetary level. how? an extinction event. why? because the earth is dying. she’s been dying for a long time, since the evolution of humankind. from ivy’s understanding. mistakes made flesh, taught themselves to talk, walk, and destroy. and unfortunately that’s the only thing they’ve learned since then.. as far as the green is concerned. when? now.
TL;DR——————there are times where ivy is not ivy. she will become the green in it’s entirety. esp. when the green cannot trust her, because as much as ivy likess to negate it or flat out lie about it… there are parts of her that align itself with humanity (case & point: how affectionate & merciful she is with women, children, minorities, & the elderly). she says she understands this, that her body is just a vessel that she was given to spread. but.. in her mind, she doesn’t. she doesn’t understand why the green doesn’t trust her. [more will be added here when i shift through my brain on the possession of the green & how ivy defies her god.]
venus reborn. she stands around 5’11 (prior form stood at 5’8 — 5’9); curvaceous, refuses to depict herself as anything but it. mostly nude, privates and the like are covered by foliage, varying in plant family, region, and size. irises shift like the seasons; ranging from deep blood reds, smoldering golden ambers, forest greens, and sometimes pure white. hair is often lightly waved or heavily curled, red in hue and mostly highlighted by gingers / orange & the occasional deep sea green or honey blonde. skin is a fickle thing, & hers is very fickle. it changes with the seasons; but for continuity’s sake, consider the epidermis’ hue to be a soft to mid olive.
more plant than man. pamela is barely human. even though her genes tell a different story: reflecting that her make—up is almost 50% of strands of vegetation, 25% comes from something unfounded (predominately eldtrich—levels of horrific), 12.5% comes from alien plant life, 10.25% is from carnivorous mammals, while the rest remains human. thus, her skin is green, chalked full of chlorophyll and actively photosynthesizes anything reflecting solar energy (including the moon and / or other meta—humans.)
molting. she can molt into any plant / vegetation she chooses. she uses this sparingly with her entire body, but frequently for primary limbs (especially her right arm & fingers). this is not non-species specific. any and all recollection of botany are in use. sometimes it’s for more.. aesthetic reasons, locks of hair are transformed into whole blossoms to mushroom roots / spores upon her skin.
by holy consumption. yes, unfortunately sunlight isn’t the only thing she consumes to survive. she does ‘eat’ human beings; but not in the traditional, man—eating way. more so because she finds that… monstrous, and she will be the first to inform others that she is not a monster. you will rot where you stand, flesh dripping off your bones like a rotten apple and from that, she will convert it to chemical energy. most of the time people will just turn into some sort of bubbling fungus, mushrooms littered mounds, or if she’s particularly fond of them… a nice flowerbed, housing their favorites on mother earth. it’s a rarity that she’ll consume actual flesh, and 9 times of 10 it’s for psychological / neurological reasons (see my mentor - unfinished). in the way the earth uses the dead to make plants and thus completely the circle of time, she does the same.
she, o’righteous pheromonea. unlike comic continuity, my version of ivy’s pheromones affect.. everyone that isn’t supernaturally immune to them. it’s a very common misconception that this is only related to sexual attraction, which ivy isn’t one to correct people on.. funnily enough. she uses this gift often, for a multiple of different uses. it’s affects on people are different, ranging from anger & hostility, to sadness and deep debilitating depression, anxiety - induced paralysis, pure & utter infatuation to the point of religious delusions, … more to be added with research.
but she’s poisonous too. just like her name, she is poison. walking talking toxin, they can be dispense through every part of her body & spirit, from the droplets in her breath, to her skin, lips, nails, body heat, even the follicles of her hair. she can regulate what poison she dispenses and how much. sometimes… choosing not to harm but instead cause temporary sickness. more to be added with research.
reborn, thrice over. rebirth is nothing new to her——————it’s happened far more often than her memory let’s her believe. each one causing parts of her humanity to be striped from her; and each time she comes back stronger and more vengeful than ever. she cannot die unless the green dies, thus.. making her almost immortal. her memory, however, is not. she does not know how many times she's died nor how, but sometimes, these.. 'past lives' come back in nightmares or immobilizing headaches. she describes each time as a rot on her brain, an infectious thing.. that her past selves are rotting her to her very core so she cannot finish her mission.

It's genetic, it's learned, it's sought after, it's loved --- it's something that you can't get it out... but you must act on it. No matter how much you try to avoid it. i'm going to be honest, i'm very hypercritical of most h_rlivy content esp. in the harley animated show & ivy's current comic run - it feels as though whenever editorial / studios place them together.. both of their characterizations shift to something more... 'digestible' to the general public at the expense of good / interesting story-telling. esp. when dc made harley part of the batfamily (which i also dislike but that's a different story). most of these changes come at the expense of villainy &.. i hate that. so much.
so in my portrayal, their relationship will remain VERY toxic. beyond belief. not only because of both of their untreated mental illness, lack of accountability for any of their missteps / mistreatment of each other but the fact that they're both mission-oriented and missions are vastly different in execution. ivy & wanting humanity to pay for what it's done to the green v. harley wanting to cause mayhem for everyone & everything that failed her. the difference always is pamela wants humans (herself & harleen included) to stop existing completely whilst harley doesn't feel like that's necessary. it's a brutal game of push & pull with absolutely no victors.
though i will admit.. there are some moments of clarity. they share passion, laughs, really long nights, they can be super cute, they dedicate their lives to each other, it's the driving force that always brings them back towards each other but.. the tragedy of them is longevity is never in the cards. because ivy will always be ivy & harley is just the same.
ivy leaves behind plants whenever and wherever she walks; most of the time it's so deep below ground that it can't be seen, but vines & the green are always just below her feet.
her mood also dictates on what flora follows her, or if it's flora at all; could be poisonous hybrid vegetables, neon mushroom beds, carnivorous man-eating traps, or the most beautiful lilies & peonies the world has ever seen. she's also very particular about the color choices that display. warm colors are for warmer moods (anger, passion, love, happiness, peace, etc.) while cool colors are for cold moods (detachment, depression, loneliness, etc.) ...
