I dont really have solid proof per say, but its a known fact that iero started playing in local bands on the NJ scene as early as 11-12. Might be a rumor but with how involved he is with the music/scene i doubt it is. Maybe not as early as 11 but around 14-16 definetely. wiki isnt a trusted source but i saw this being mentioned in a few articles on Kerrang as well. Source could be from an interview if anyone has it send it my way :)

The scene is never kind to anyone, especially not young people and especially not enthusiastic young boys like Frank. I dont think anyone without ulterior motives would let someone this young play for them. It's more like a theory I have I guess but one of the main reasons why Frank could easily endure the abuse gerard subjected him to is because he was convinced that this is the way things go when people want you to play for their band. It happened to him so many times that he assumes maltreatment is the natural order of the scene.
