What's your take on New Year's resolutions?
I've always struggled with setting resolutions for the coming year. I usually have lofty ideas of what I want to do and achieve but before I know it, it's March already and I haven't even gotten to writing down my goals. I tend to plan a lot in my head instead of on paper and I think writing down plans is important if you want to follow through on them which I then struggle to do.
I'm keen to start writing down all the ideas I have for this year. And maybe it won't be too bad to take it a day at a time. I often feel disappointed if I don't "do it right" when setting goals. I want it to be just perfect: the nice journal, the different areas of my life I want to work on, action plans, steps to get there. You catch the drift.
I’m proud that I managed to get Neen and the Cat going so early in the year. Cheers to me! I think that's a good start for someone who is a procrastinator, won’t you say?
Something that I'd like to share when it comes to New Year’s resolutions, is my idea of a yearly theme. During the past few years, when it reaches October or November, I usually get this feeling of what I need in my life for the coming year.
In 2018 it was to Curate my life - getting rid of things that I don't want anymore, old habits, bad habits, junk that bogged me down. I didn't get to much of that unfortunately, 2018 ended up being more of a rollercoaster than expected! I'll hold onto that theme, however and perhaps I'll do some of it in 2019 still.
Over the past few months the feelings and ideas for 2019's theme has formed into the concept of Being Better. I'll write another post on that and what it means for me, but I'm excited about starting this journey and I'd love to know what others think about having a theme to guide them through the year.
