So, now I have finished Off & Monster Season and I'm finally caught up...
Honestly a pretty good season all in all, I really wasn't expecting to get stuff like Kiss-Shot backstory or a closure to Nadeko's arc in this season but It was actually pretty good to see.
First up there's that first episode that was more or less a lead into what it'll be the Nadeko Draw arc. I would say that in general it was a nice episode and it was surprising to finally see Monogatari in HD quality lol. Not much else to say outside of it other than that little scene of Ononoki being chased by the giant slug being beautiful to look at
Nadeko Draw was an arc that I didn't expect to need, but it was insanely welcomed since it gave a nice closure to Nadeko's arc and also a really wholesome and cute friendship in Nadeko & Ononoki lol, honestly they're a pretty good duo all things considered and I found so cute that moment where Ononoki said that one of the few good things that had happened to her recently was becoming friends with Nadeko (the way Nadeko got all flustered and started thinking that Ononoki was trying to make the former fall for her was so funny and cute lol)
The final "fight" was also pretty good, I really liked the deception with both angry and flirty Nadeko to make God Nadeko throw her attention away of the other versions of herself so the true Nadeko could act. And speaking of the final part of the arc, Current Nadeko knowing exactly where her "meek" version is was a really heartwarming scene, you just know she wished to hear those words she told Meek Nadeko back then, maybe things could've end up different if that was the way but we'll never know. Still though, wouldn't trade it for this Nadeko who had an amazing arc throughout about a year and a half or so lol, really nice way to close it all off.
Now, the Acerola Bon Appetit arc... This was such an unexpected banger honestly, getting to pretty much know why and how Shinobu ended up being Kiss-Shot as well as knowing who she was as a human AND who turned her was something I was not expecting in the slightest, but I'd be lying if I said that it wasn't good lol. Getting the lore of both Suicide-Master and Acerola and how they met, alongside seeing how DSV slowly started feeling more fondly towards Acerola to the point where even she wondered for a second if it was love or lust or hunger was really interesting to see. plus DSV was a pretty good character all around as well, she's kinda like Kiss-Shot but obviously in a more over the top way sort of speak, which makes complete sense since she was the one who made Kiss-Shot who she was before Shinobu, and also it was pretty interesting to learn that she's a really picky eater. Now I'm wondering though if on those 600 years after turning Acerola into Kiss-Shot she just stopped eating altogether until the next arc, I know it's implied but maybe I'm looking at it wrong so I dunno lol
Now the last one in Shinobu Mustard, honestly still a pretty good one, it was fun to see the mystery on who was mummifying all those girls although I kinda feel that you could deduct it by the start of the second half of the arc lol. Still, nice way to reintroduce Kagenui back even if it is just for a cameo like Oshino in the finale of Owari, and also a neat reunion between Suicide-Master and Shinobu, all in all it was a neat arc even if I don't really have that much to say about it...
Oh yeah, almost forgot, This one had the second OP for the season as well! Honestly after seeing that the Acerola arc didn't have an OP I was scared that we would only have one OP this season, so I was glad to see that I was wrong even if it took like 3-4 episodes to appear lol.
Overall I would say that it was pretty enjoyable, not as good as Second Season but definitely a pretty good one to watch. Hopefully we'll get to see a new entry to the series soon because with this I just finally caught up to everything Monogatari has to offer in it's anime form lol (can't believe I got here, feels kinda surreal tbh)
PS: Is it just me or did a lot of the characters changed their hair color this season? I know Oikura had grey hair already in Zoku Owari but she went from white to gray, Nadeko used to have a darker hair color and now it's brown, and even Senjougahara went from her iconic blue-ish hair to a brown color (also maybe this is me just tripping, but Ononoki had a bit more green-ish tone to her hair as well, while here is just blue) this is not a complain to me though, just something I noticed after watching lol
