Chicken and Beer

"Chicken and beer?" he asked smiling, as he entered the front door, even though you haven't given him the permission to enter yet. "What are you doing here?" you asked nonchalantly, not bothering that you're only wearing a towel infront of him. And why would you be? You've been friends ever since you were 2. You've basically took a bath together when you were little. So, why bother? He starred at you for a few seconds "Hey! Why are you still showing up like that infront of me?" But since you guys are in your 20s now... Things have been a little bit different. He feels shy seeing you like this now. He doesn't want to accept it, but his bestfriend grew up to be a really beautiful woman. "Hey! It's not me who just popped infront of my house out of nowhere under this heavy rain with a chicken and beer in his hand..." He couldn't argue with that "Still, you shouldn't just wear those kind of stuff infront of me... or anybody else" You starred at him in confusion and frustration "I was taking a bath... When suddenly the doorbell rang..." You explained slowly, trying to put some sense into you're bestfriend's mind "You pressed it continuosly for five times, I thought it was an emergency" "But it was raining heavy outside!" he argued "Exactly!" you said "That's why I had no choice... but to answer it looking like this!" He lost. Again. He can never really win an argument against you. But he doesn't mind... He never does. "Fine. I'm sorry." he said as he settled the chicken and beer on the kitchen counter. The argument lead the 2 of you in the kitchen and you both didn't notice. "So." you asked, crossing your arms infront of your chest, which lead him to follow your movements "What are you doing here?" he snapped back to reality with the question, but is still bothered with his bestfriend looking like that "How about you put some clothes on first, then we talk about it." you smiled sheepishly "What?" he asked "I can't believe that your feeling awkward now." you started to walk towards him slowly, his heart, Started beating fast "Didn't we took a bath together before when we were kids?" his heart, beating even faster. As you inched closer to him even more "So what's wrong with seeing me like this right now?" you stopped when your face is already almost an inch close to his. He couldn't say anything, not with you just an inch closer, not when he could feel you breath. You smiled "I was just teasing you, kid." then walked away, laughing, "Prepare those and bring them to the living room after, so we could watch a movie." You called out as you walked away. He snapped back to reality when he heard the slam of the door. "Stop calling me kid!" he shouted at you. Then sighed and placed a hand on his chest "What's wrong with that woman?"
"So?" you asked as you picked up a chicken in the bucket and settled down on the floor beside him "What's up?" you took a bite then looked at him. "Want some beer?" he asked, opening a bottle. you took it "Just a couple." you said grabbing the beer from him "I have morning shift tomorrow." then took a big gulp "Are you in a hurry?" he teased you, chuckling, as he saw that Y/N almost drank half of the beer already in one gulp. "I." Y/N said "Am in a hurry to know what's up with you." his smile slowly faded and almost as if he was avoiding your gaze "Hey." you said "Why did you suddenly appear infront of my house at midnight despite this heavy rain?" he looked at you "You must have something really important to tell me, since you'd always just rather stay at home, coffee on one hand. Lying on your bed and watching a movie with this kind of rain.. So, spit it out!" and Y/N, even though you knew that he won't tell you the truth. still tried. "Nothing." He said "I just wanted to see my bestfriend, is there something wrong with that?" He said. Y/N sighed. "Yah, Kim Hanbin." you said at him calmly. "We've been bestfriends for 20 years." he looked at you, and you could see the guilt from his eyes "Why was it always so hard for you to open up to me?" "Hey." Hanbin said defensively "I've never hidden anything from you... I just really wanted to see you." he added. Y/N starred at him, studied him as he drink his beer "Whatever." you said "Are you mad?" Hanbin teased you. "Oooh. You're mad." You just took another sip of the beer not even looking at him "Yah." Hanbin said wrapping his arms around your neck playfully "Don't be mad at me. I just really wanted to see you." he said, "Let go of me." Y/N said and when he did, you once again looked at him. The two of you haven't really seen each other for a while, you've been busy for the past few weeks since it's peak season in the hospital. And whenever you have free time you would be spending it with your boyfriend Jung Jonghyun. While, Hanbin on the other hand has been busy with writing music, their comeback, their promotions and their tv and program guestings from left to right. But there's still something that he's not telling you. "Tss." you said. Hanbin laughed. "You're really such a spoiled brat." he said patting your hair. You looked at him "And you're never really a good liar." He looked at you sighed and "Okay, okay..." He took a sip of the beer "I have been really tired this past few weeks you see.." He said, you looked at him. This is unusual of him. To say that he's tired. To complain about his work. "I don't know why, but...." He's always been so passionate about his job "I've been really lost this past few months..." he looked at You. You could see the exhaustion from his eyes, and you suddenly felt the urge to comfort him. But he won't want that. "They've been asking for a new song, but..." It would only hurt his pride "Everytime I try to write. It just doesn't sound.... honest." You just listened, he looked at you and saw the concern in your eyes "Is it bad?" he asked chuckling "Do you think it's wrong for me to feel this way?" you felt sorry for him. He's always been a perfectionist. He's been making great music for the past 3 years, but he never really believed that they were good enough. He was never really satisfied. Not until Y/N has said so though. Which you think is funny, because you never really have any knowledge in song writing or anything, But everytime he wrote a song. He would always ask for your opinion. Not that it matters but if you liked it, then it's all good. "Hey" you said placing the beer on top of the table and putting both yout hands on the side of his cheek, squeezing his face "How many times do I have to tell you?" You said as you continued to squeeze his face "Stop that." he argued, but he loves it when you do that. "It's never a bad thing to doubt yourself and feel tired sometimes..." you continued on squeezing his face, making hanbin give up trying to stop you. "stop" he exclaimed and you finally let go.
"You deserve to feel tired." you said looking at him "You deserve to rest." then you grabbed the chicken that he's holding and took a bite "How about you?" hanbin said, taking the chicken back "You deserve a rest too." he said "Your boyfriend might be getting mad at you for always doing overtime and being on call at work." You took a sip of the beer. "And why do you care?" you said. "Well." he said "It is my job to stick my nose in your business." he took a bite of the chicken. Y/N though, doesn't want to talk about Jonghyun. The last time you saw each other. You had a fight and for 3 days the two of you have not been talking to each other. You haven't receive any calls or messages from him. "Well?" hanbin asked. Y/N looked at him "Will you get mad at me for always doing overtime and being on call at work?" you asked him. "Of course." Hanbin said "Who on earth would want their girlfriend to revolve their world around work when they are still young and have lots of energy to have fun?" you felt guilty, "Of course I would want to spend more time with you" and he saw it on your face. You've always had a blank facade to most people. But hanbin could read your expressions very well. "Well you're always stuck on your notebook writing music, not even eating unless food has been shoved in your face." Hanbin smiled "Well... I would get mad of course..." he looked at you and seeing his smile made your heart take a leap "But I would also understand that it's your passion, and it's what makes you happy..." you smiled "And if you're happy. Then I'm happy... I would support you as much as I could." He smiled at you and you sighed "Tell me again why she broke up with you?" he starred at you then you both laughed as the two of you recall everything that happened "She's a stupid woman" You continued to say. Hanbin looked at you "She is." And you both laughed again. When you opened another bottle of beer and "Hey. You said you would only have a couple. That's you 4th beer already." he said. You just looked at him and took a sip of the beer. Hanbin grabbed it from you "You have morning shift tomorrow" he looked at his watch. "I mean, later." You took the bottle back "I could just call in and say I'm sick." Hanbin looked at you "I should be having fun since I'm still young. remember?" he looked at you in disbelief and you both just laughed.
