You know what gets me real bad?
In both cases Dean leans in and gets involved in the hug, but remains still and kind of stiff. In comparison look at Sam, he hugs his parents cheek-to-cheek, like he tries to make himself small again, to let them embrace him. Dean, on the other hand, seems to be kind of detached, like he’s afraid he’s disturbing them in their moment. Like he thinks he’s not entirely welcome.
This is not how Dean usually hugs
He goes for teddy-bear hugs and tries to drape himself all over the people he loves, he wants as much contact as possible. It’s cheek-to-cheek, arms around the person’s neck/shoulders, sometimes he tries to prolong it as much as possible.
When his parents (that recently came back from the dead) hug him, poor baby stays still and does not know how to react :(
And to this day I’ll never know why I find this so damn funny.
