Louis and Chad Michael Murray. Bless this picture.
âMy most obvious one was within my band. We all got thrown together, and we didnât know each other when we got made into a band, and me and Louis did not get along 1%. I mean, would use the word we hated each other. It was that strong. Now we are actually the best of friends within the band, which I think is absolutely hilarious, but it just shows you I think even in those moments of angst, it still breeds a connection between you both.â

Zayn and Ingrid Michaelsonâs âTo Begin Againâ Finds Bright Hope on the Horizon
Ingrid Michaelson and Zayn dropped a surprise sultry duet, âTo Begin Again,â on Wednesday (March 17), in which the pair sing about a reboot following a near-apocalypse. The ballad, which they co-wrote with Sarah Aarons (co-writer of Zeddâs âStayâ and âThe Middleâ), is a snapshot of the moment most of the world is going through right now as the COVID vaccine brings the promise of rebirth after a harsh year.
âWhen the world was ending/ Iâd hold you in my arms/ And we talked about the places weâd never been/ When the world was ending/ Weâd hold on to the past/ Because itâs all we thought that we would ever see,â Michaelson sings over gentle, muted piano before she slips into a more hopeful mindset. âBut then the sun came right back/ And the birds sang as if nothing had happened/ And, itâs alright/ Itâs OK/ We will get/ Another day/ To begin again, to begin again, to begin again.â
The song, produced by Sam de Jong (Alec Benjamin, Pale Waves), is described in a statement as a one-off collab from Michaelson as she continues work on the music and lyrics for the upcoming Broadway adaptation of The Notebook. âI wrote âTo Begin Againâ the night that Biden won. There was so much joy in my neighborhood. Pots and pans being banged out of windows. Horns and whistles. Clapping. Singing!â said Michaelson in a statement.
âThe collective sigh of relief resonated with me in such a way that I had to get it out musically. I sat at the piano and wrote most of the song right there in 15 minutes,â she added, noting that Aarons helped her with the second verse, at which point she realized it needed to be a duet. âI love ZAYNâs voice, especially when he goes high and sweet and sad. It was the perfect fit. The song is a song of hope and of release. Of beginning againâŠâ
Malikâs verse finds him feeling equally eager to find hope in the dawn. âWhen the world was ending/ We looked up at the sky/ And we talked about the last song that weâd play/ So far from comprehending/ Theyâd lift us to the stars/ Never seen each other from so far away,â he sings. âBut then the sun came right back/ And the kids played as if nothing had happened/ And, itâs alright/ Itâs OK/ We will get another day/ To begin again, to begin again, to begin again.â
In an interview with Apple Musicâs Zane Lowe on Wednesday, Michaelson said she was not planning to work on any new pop tunes as she hammered down on The Notebook and an animated childrenâs show. But she suddenly felt compelled to write âTo Begin Again,â which she hopes will give people a âcollective sighâ of relief.
âIt was more than it just came out. I had to. Who writes a pop song thatâs like when the world was ending,â she said to Lowe. âLike, thatâs not very happy and joyful. People donât want to hear that.â Luckily for her, Zaynâs management had reached out in January 2020 to let her know that he was a fan, which left her shellshocked that someone she considers to be on a totally âdifferent level of famedomâ wanted to work with her.
Then, COVID happened, followed by last summerâs protests over the police killing of George Floyd and Aarons adding the pivotal second verse, which led Michaelson to think that Malikâs âbeautiful high voiceâ would be the perfect compliment. âSo, we reached out to him, and they immediately were like, 'Yeah. He loves it. He wants to do it.ââ And though they still have not spoken, a few weeks later his vocals landed in her inbox and the song was complete.
âI think heâs a private guy. I think he does what he believes in,â she said of the press-shy former One Direction member. âAnd he doesnât do what he doesnât believe in. And the fact that he chose to sing on my song is like extremely amazing. And the fact that he chose to do that now, especially knowing what I know about him, which is he is very elusive.â
It wasnât just Harries that went after Liam for his lyrics? Itâs strange that your blog is the only one that receives multiple anons about how smart or shady Liam is with Harry? All heâs done in the past year is find any way to insert Harry into every livestream or interview. Itâs quite sickening. Heâs the one who hyped the anniversary because he had a single to promote. Liam will use anyone to get the fans to stick with him. And itâs even worse because he blatantly lies about how much they talk
Are you saying that itâs ok to attack a person who has a history of depression and suicidal thoughts, by telling him to kill himself?
You can dislike how Liam talks about Harry, you can also say that many fans were vile to him. But itâs also undeniable what Harries did.
I want to say so much to this anon, so sorry Sea Iâm gonna add to your post.Â
@ anon:Â
Harries literally created an hashtag on LP1 release day to ruin him, they literally bullied him so hard that he basically went offline that day. They create hashtags basically every single week to hate on him and insert Liam in everything just because they are bored. They hate Liam for talking about 1D/Harry, but they also hate Liam for not talking about 1D/Harry. They filled his lives with questions about Harry and asking him to react to every single piece of content he has. They keep bringing up certain subjects that Liam has already said that he was sorry (like BW lyrics even though he wasnât the only writer of that song). They made fun of his mental health problems and even called him an âattention seekerâ when he confessed that he suicide thoughts. They literally blamed Liam for Harry not getting 2 of the Grammys that he was nominated for... Even though dude isnât even nominated, ffs.
So you can say all you want and say that Liam tries to please them, but after the hate campaign they (alongside some K-pop fans) started in 2019 I think itâs pretty clear that Liam is trying to be smart and not piss off anyone.Â
Omg I have to say THANK YOU for adding this! ATHIS IS EXACTLY what went down.
anyone making that tweet about anything other than the racism and discrimination that the grammys have perpetuated, is taking away from the meaning of what zayn is saying. and you are NOT listening to zayn, or any of the other artists of color who have spoken up against the grammys
