Hey y’all, Happy Sunday Funday! Today I feel led by the Spirit to share a bit about my month of pondering over a wonderful message. My pastor has taken us through a series of sermons on the concept of Godspeed, or God’s will to see us through a successful journey within our lives, and what good it has done for my attitude and outlook!
The Lord has wonderful desires to see us into prosperity, peace, protection, stability, comfort, and a position to help and share His love with others. We must remember, though, that to claim His master plan, we must be fully willing to relinquish our feelings of control over any circumstance in trade for patience and total faith in Him. Hard, it may be, but well-worth-it will it be in the end.
You are not alone in your struggle to surrender your will to God in turn for His. Look at Sarah and Abraham, the woman affected by 12 years of hemorrhaging, and the 12 year old daughter of Jairus – all given relief by the creator and sustainer of the universe. These believers had the mustard seed of never ending faith for their greatest desires to be answered, and boy were they. Sarah and Abraham called upon the Lord for a child despite the fact that Sarah was at a barren age. The word says that she her body was “as good as dead,” but she “put the eyes of faith upon the circumstance”. God said to Abraham, “Count the stars and that is how your generations will be.” Abraham knew the will of God and sat in his patience while waiting for the Father to move. In His perfect timing, this man was enabled to become a father of his own (Hebrews 11: 11/ Acts 1:7-8).
A woman who faced the pain of constant bleeding for twelve years sought out Christ amongst a crowd of gatherers for healing (Luke 8:43). She was on the outskirts, just out of Jesus’ reach. But through faith she found her way inside the circle and proceeded to touch His cloak. How many of us know that when you set your sights on your target or end goal, you cling to it? She persevered, laid her hand upon the fabric and was instantly healed. After asking, who touched Him, Jesus said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace.”
In the same crowd was a man named Jairus whose daughter had died. Upon arrival at the house of the synagogue leader Jesus said, “She is not dead but asleep.” They laughed at His comment but then He spoke, “My child, get up!” and her spirit returned. Her “ruach” (spirit) was restored, her being brought back into a person. Jesus asked in return for them to keep quiet about this miraculous work, but only because we know that He had more work to do on earth. Come on somebody. God is about life and not death. He is about giving and not taking (Luke 8:55).
So now I call upon you. As Jesus said to his disciples in a storm, “Where is your faith?” (Luke 8:24). The battles that we allow to steal our mind and sanity are powerless without fuel. We could be sleeping in peace at times when we stress ourselves, much like Jesus was doing on the boat when His disciples feared sinking. Abandon your concerns and turn to the One who can truly address them, for He wants you to succeed.
