It was the day before I was to leave Jamaica to go live with my aunt and uncle in America and I still had so much to do. I had to say goodbye to everyone important in my life. I had to make sure I packed everything I’d need. And most of all, I had to figure out a way to get my sister Sasha to help me pull off something I’d been planning ever since I learned I’d been granted an American visa. You see, Sasha was the longtime girlfriend of Ghost, a notorious drug dealer in Kingston. While she had no official role in Ghost’s drug empire, I did. I’d always been very good with numbers so I was in charge of handling the money that came in from one of the crews in the city. In exchange for my loyalty, Ghost made sure no one fucked with me for being gay. I knew not to ever get on his bad side; therefore, I had to pull off my plan seamlessly.
“I’m not agreeing to it if I don’t know who he is, Remy,” Sasha said to me.
“Sasha,” I pleaded. “I just need you to keep Ghost busy while I spend a few hours with him.”
“I already told you he works for Ghost.”
“I am your sister. You should trust me enough to tell me who he is.”
“I do trust you but I can’t put him out like that.”
“And how do you know he’s…into you know what?”
“Because I know what I know. I’m leaving tomorrow and you know I won’t be coming back to visit for a long time. You wanted me to go to America so bad and now that I am about to go, I need to do this.”
