IT was a literal scene straight out of one of those romcom movies she and Atrius watched. Of course the doctor would choose that exact moment to walk in. âSorry doc.â Rachel replied, unfazed by the interruption. âIâm just glad to see you.â She whispered to Newt, her hand, which had let go of his, moving to cup his chin gently, guiding his mouth back to her own. Reaching up best she could, she tilted her head to deepen the kiss even more. Because despite him having just kissed her, she didnât care enough about the doctor being in the room to stop kissing him one more time. Only this time she was beyond ready for it, her lips locking with his in a fiery yet soft kiss. She only pulled away when oxygen became necessary. And even then, despite being connected to the oxygen tubes, she couldnât help but pull back to stare into his eyes. Breathing deeply, she made sure to keep the smile on her lips despite the tired look in her blue eyes. âIâve been upgraded from fiancee to wife now, huh?â She teased lightly in a hushed voice, tangling her slender fingers through his dirty blonde locks. She didnât know what to do now, either, and as she stared up at him, she couldnât help but feel the weight of what had just happened settle in. There were still so many things left unsaid, but the scariest part of all of this was that she wanted, even in the slightest, to tell him everything. Every little thing, but she knew that doing so would scare him away⊠and that was something she really didnât want. Leaning back onto the pillows, she moved her hand so it was holding his once more, her fingers sliding effortlessly between his. She stared at him for a moment longer before turning her attention to the doctor, her hand still resting in Newtâs, their joint hands sitting on his lap. âDid you have any news that you want to share? When can I go home?â She was eager to get the hell out of there, but even Rachel knew that it wouldnât be that easy. Running her thumb across the back of Newtâs hand, despite her focus mostly being on the medical professional, she couldnât help but let her gaze drift back to the handsome man sitting by her side.
Wasnât that just Newt and Rachelâs luck, a doctor coming in at that exact moment to take they away from each other. However that didnât seem to stop Rachel at all, and that god for that. His whole body drawing closer to her, chest to chest. Weird for the doctor maybe, but who really cared. And only once their lips had parted, and Newt had sucked in a deep breath, a cheeky grin pulled across his lips. âWe should do that more often, like a lot more oftenâ he said quietly to her with a light chuckle coming after his words. A slight flush of red coming across his cheeks at her teasing, thankful they were close enough it would be hard for her to see. âSomething like thatâ he said softly to her, shifting back slightly though entirely not wanting too. He sat more, their hands returning together as he softly ran circles on her skin once more. Eyes switching between the doctor and back to her again, listening to the news the doctor delivered. Newt only hoped when she was released heâd be able to take her home, safe, healed and happy. As the doctor departed, Newt shaking his hand as a thank you as the man went, Newt turned his full attention back to Rachel. For a moment he just sat there, looking at her, wondering how sheâd fallen just as fast for a man like him. Then again suppose she didnât know all his demons, and perhaps she wouldnât have if she did know. âI donât know what you want to do now. But for me. I just to want to take you out for dinner next week, and make you breakfast in bed when you get out of her, and go out to a bar and probably not dance but maybe just be there with you.â he paused, a chuckle passing before his eyes turned softer. âI donât know what you want to do now. But iâll take anythingâ
