Where: Galaxy Theaters Who: Open

Another night, another opportunity to explore the city he felt like he’d barely scratched the surface of, and tonight he had set his eye on the movies.Only he seemed to be the only one that felt it was appropriate to go on his own. As yet another couple breezed by him, his gaze set on the movie options screen, he debated going home, or finding something else to do with his evening–tired of being the unknowing third, fourth, and fifth wheel. That’s when he caught sight of a similar soul nearby, gazing up at the screen in quiet contemplation as he was, and he found himself drifting closer out of commiseration, “I’m fairly certain some of these movie titles are made up, because there’s no way they would willingly make something called ‘Sharknado’s Revenge’.”

              It wasn’t exactly a secret, but being a movie buff was definitely a hobby of Night’s that she couldn’t dare to part with. She loved going to the movies, as it was the most memorable feature of her childhood, due to Ben’s frequent field trips to the cinema. Now, she realizes it was to avoid the fights going on at home, but even still, she couldn’t thank him enough for it. Much like her alternate persona as ‘Ann’, Night decided she wasn’t Ann nor Night when she was at the theaters or watching movies at home. She was just a movie fan, without all the extra bits to make it extra special. Albeit, going to the theaters was tricky nowadays, especially when she would run into those that knew her as The Alchemist, or just a Poison. Even so, it didn’t stop her--- cinema was one of her many escapes from Toxic City. There was no way Night would ever sacrifice that. Arms wrapped around her small frame, the brunette squints as she searches for the movie time of her preferred movie of the day, breaking her focus when she hears a man’s voice beside her. “Well, you’d be disappointed to hear that they’ve made six of them. It’s awful, but it’s sort of like ‘The Room’, in how it’s a cult classic because it’s just that bad.”

Eris shook her head at the other “Oh come on, Poison. Does it not get tiresome keeping a stick shoved so far up your ass. I’m often as serious as they come and you’re making me look like the fucking Joker here.” she mused, watching as the other only got up “I may not have anything to council you with, but I can easily make an observation- you need to relax” she murmured “Take it from someone who realised the same thing.”

            She can only roll her eyes at this point, but Night couldn’t help but take her words with a grain of salt. Not so much in it’s normal sense, but it was evident that Night was a walking stress bomb. She felt as though the world was on her shoulders, how could she ‘relax’? Night only sighs, managing a sarcastic “Have a good day,” before exiting the store, leaving her book on the table by the door before heading out.

At least she was smiling, Winston thought. That was always good. It was always better than the alternative. And so, he smiled back. He had been told before that he was too smiley for emergency medicine and would have done better in the pediatric ward. For a time, Winston thought he might have been better there too. Until he couldn’t find the soft words to explain mortality to a child and was suddenly back in his bedroom with the glow-in-the-dark stars. It took a stronger human than him to do that.

Nothing felt broken as he prodded and he let up, acquiescing to the ice. He shifted back and pushed his glasses up before he stood. At her question, his eyebrows shot up in an “I’ve been had” type way before he laughed in a way that bordered on a giggle.

“What gave me away?” He said before he held a hand up apologetically and stepped out. When he did, the nurse from before looked at him expectantly. He shook his head and shrugged gently. Didn’t know what exactly she was expecting, but it didn’t cross his mind to ask. He returned with a bag of ice, eyes on the floor before they moved back up to the dark-haired woman’s.

“Usually it’s the, uh, twang an’ all. Ain’t easy to hide it,” he said as he returned to his seat. “I’m from Texas. El Paso.” His head tilted inquisitively as he handed her the ice. “Are you from here?”

                 Night broke into a smile of sorts, the corner of her lips lifting at his giggle. Definitely not from here, she thought. She waited patiently when he stepped out for a moment, the Poison taking the short few seconds to stretch out her muscles, wincing a bit when the pain decided to greet her like a fast moving car. When he returns, she perks up subtly at the icepack, taking it as she hesitantly presses it against her ribs, over her shirt. “Texas,” she echoes, nodding to note the fact. “I didn’t actually notice the twang all that much, but now that you mention it," she pauses for a moment. “It’s probably all I’ll hear now---” she laughs a bit more confidently, sitting back before hunching over the ice pack again. “But, uh... it was really just how you act. People here are... a little quick to judge, rough around the edges... I don’t think there’s anyone in this city without some sort of demon hanging around them.” Night pauses, breaking out into an apologetic grin, pulling a few strands of hair behind her ear. “Welcome to Dertosa, I guess.”

eyes shift, move in the general direction of the church, oh he had frequented that one as a child. thanks to his grandfather, to his mother and their upbringing. he hadn’t been inside the building since hadn’t stepped foot into the building since the funeral service and he doesn’t intend to change that. not because of his grandfather—- no, that man no longer lived in dertosa. ‘ peaceful. ’ he echoes, a light smile on his lips. perhaps he saw it as that too, once upon a time. ‘ it is nice to get away. ’ he gives her that ‘ to escape it all, every once in a while. ’ at least for him it was. given the persona she had created, it was for her too.

isaiah falls silent then, regards her for a beat, watches her as molly draws her attention once more, excited and eager to play ( or for scratches, or perhaps both ) and he decides to toss all caution out of the window, going for broke. she intrigued him more than he would have thought. ‘ say—- ’ a tilt of his head, an inviting smile, one of the charming kind on his lips ‘ would you like to accompany us on our exploratory walk? not far is a little park area, were molly can run and play, we could grab a coffee or something down the street before we head there? ’

              Night can only nod at his added comments, smiling softly as she didn’t want to dive in too deep when it came to her ‘other’ life. Admittingly, there was a part of her that couldn’t be more than excited to break away from Toxic City once a month--- or, when she could. Still, the Poison held guilt like it was her most prized possession. She could never allow herself to have too much fun--- to love life as it was intended. When he first speaks, Night’s brow perks, lips parting into a smile of sorts at his offer. It was so sweet, so normal... she couldn’t help but feel as though she were stepping out of her little box, daring to participate in something so mundane. “---Sure,” she manages, nibbling on her bottom lip, preventing a wide grin. Ann was subtle. She was calm and patient. “That sounds nice.”

“Aren’t I supposed to be the trouble-maker between us?”

Julian tried very, very hard not to smirk as they said this, but it was a challenge. It wasn’t even about being smug at Night for her days behind bars, really. They just felt like a snarky badass, all leaned up against their Spitfire, hands buried in their jacket pockets. Very secret-vigilante-of-the-night of them. An unironic thought: I’m so cool.

Cecilia, on the other hand, looked like a cat that had been dragged through a puddle and then blow-dried on one side. It should have been the only warning they needed not to piss her off further. “Lovely to see you in the light of day, Cece,” they chimed as they hopped to attention at the sight of her scowl and swung the passenger side door open for her. “I brought you something to change into, if you like. You have the hottest shower in the world waiting for you. And we can stop somewhere if you’re hungry, too.”

“But first,” they mused as they crossed the car to slide behind the wheel and toss her a sly glance, “you gotta tell me what went down. Vinny only says so much and, well, you have a unique perspective, to say the least.”

             Perhaps it wasn’t the best idea to call Julian--- Cecilia knew Nico would’ve been her best shot, he was always her safety net next to Ben. Still, out of impulse... out of some strange secret desire to have family beside her, she didn’t. Cecilia could defend that she just wasn’t thinking straight. For the last few days, she hadn’t in the slightest. But at this point, the Poison couldn’t deny how she felt when it came to her half-brother. They had always been a pain in her ass. She didn’t trust them for a very long time, but not even Nightshade was protected from the changes of time. She did, eventually. She came around to the idea that if Nico and Ben could trust them, why couldn’t she? Albeit, it was a very long road traveled, but she was glad that if there were any light at the end of the tunnel--- she at least had them, and that would never change.

Entering the lobby of the station, still that her horrific red dress, she exhales sharply. Approaching Julian, the poison rolls her eyes heavily at his remark, remaining as ‘calm’ as she could be. Still, at the mention of her ‘nickname’, Cecilia snapped, shoving them a little less than playful before climbing inside the passenger seat. “Oh god, where to start,” she starts off sarcastically, mocking your typical gossip. “---You’re gonna have to give me more than a hot shower and meal before getting that shit out of me. Not only was I in that fucking jail cell for days in the same underwear and bra, I’m still covered in humiliation all because of some prissy teenage bitch with no restraint what-so-ever. I mean ---who the hell expects me to keep my cool when a jealous, spoiled brat comes for me? Stand back and let her rip this dress apart? I don’t fucking think so. I’m pretty sure this thing costs more than my entire wardrobe.”

“I’ve never— Okay, so maybe there was this one time I used my ‘sexuality’ –if you want to call it that– I personally prefer me being known as a smooth talker, but anyway… yeah. I have. To get infromation, to get a drink. Not now, obviously. During my early years, when it was more fun to be a Posion than it is now or when I was a teenager, wanting alcohol and being unable to buy any.”

RAUM: So you have a tendency to hoard anything? If so, what?

“I used to collect a lot of posters growing up. I would hoard things that reminded me of a better time. I’m sure they’re around somewhere, I don’t think I’d ever get rid of that stuff. But as for now, no not really.”

BAAL: If you were a god, how would you prefer to be worshipped?

“Hmm..” she smirks a little, though subtly. “Not aggressively. I’d hate to be followed around, but I guess it’d be nice to be acknowledged every now and again. A little head nod, a wave. I don’t know— how do people worhsip Gods anyway? Isn’t there a religion that gives their God food offerings? I think I’d prefer that.”

Mickey had spent enough time being a black cat, a broken mirror, spilled salt. She ruined, cursed, and broke – sometimes her own life, at times others. A self-serve bad omen. Even if she showered and combed through her hair and shook out her pockets, bad luck seemed to hang on her, an extra appendage on her shadow. Perhaps because she knew what it was to poison your own chances, or perhaps because she was a bitch and a fool, Mickey stopped for the small twinkle she passed on the ground, pinched the loose change in her fingers, and turned it over. 

At the approach of footsteps, she looks up, unaffected and unbothered. The woman takes another drag from her cigarette and narrows her eyes.

“It’s only good luck if it’s face-side up.”

A glance downward. It’s tails.

               Nightshade had always been fascinated by the lives of Flowers. They were mysterious in their own right, living a life that would be sure to drive her insane. Perhaps it was why she hung around The Garden of Eden, at least, that’s what she told herself. In truth, it was her revenge that brought her to linger around the building, often seen pacing back and forth trying to figure out which Flower had been the one to know of her brother’s death before it had happened. She was aware that she was starting to get a bit annoying, hanging around so much. Which was why she stood outside instead, hoping the summer heat of the night could spark some sort of epiphany. She sighs considerably, crossing her arms when a raven-haired woman comes to a halt only a few feet away. “I guess it’s your unlucky day,” she responds, noting that it was face-down.

He’s in his zone. The smell of grease in the air, a steady film of THC coating the nooks and crannies of his brain, the sound of woks sizzling and a huge fish tank bubbling (salt water, of course, those were quality)—that was al the man needed in life. The only thing that could disturb him is someone tapping against the glass, bothering not only him, but the fish.

 In the moment they were one in the same, he and those slippery phylum chordata. He imagined himself in the tank, feeling the soundwaves of the large finger tapping against the glass. He was a fish, and he was bothered.

“Man, don’t you know you ain’t supposed to do that?” he muttered. “You’re, like, scrambling their brains n’ shit.”

             Night hated meetings, especially when it came to hot mess members of the Diamonte district, desperate to track down their one night stands. She considered throwing Cypress into this mess, but it was already too late to call him in--- not to mention drawing the short stick with the rest of the gang. It was already wild that they did this sort of thing anyway, being vigilantes and all-- but apparently, her brother got a real kick out of this. He had built a reputation with these people for being reliable, whilst getting a good laugh at the end of the day. Anyway, if ti was up to Night, she’d rather not. It was annoying and tedious-- but it had been a while since the Poison had any serious jobs to do. She considered this job as a filler, something to pass the time. Entering the restaurant, Night paces back and forth as she waits for him, passing by a tank, poking at it to fulfill her boredom. At the voice, she turns, rolling her eyes as if she had just been caught by her mother for doing something she wasn’t supposed to do. “Have you seen any monkey suits around here?” she decides to ask, wondering if she was too early or too late, given that it was ten minutes past their meeting time.
