Symposiums and Supply Chains
MedPharm CEO Andrew Koval continues his current round of negotiations and meetings in Europe’s pharmaceutical and humanitarian capitals.
After spending time visiting and inspecting logistic partners in the Netherlands, Mr. Koval went on to the United Kingdom, where he was to attend the Partnership for Disease Control Initiatives Round Table discussions. Then on to Italy where he met with product suppliers and partners before traveling to Switzerland for meetings with World Health Organization officials.
Update on Africa
The drought in the Horn of Africa is arguably the worst in recent history. In Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia and Djibouti, more than 13 million people are in need of assistance. In Somalia, famine has spread through large areas of the south. Three-quarters of a million men, women and children are at imminent risk of starvation; 4 million need urgent help. Tens of thousands of refugees have moved to Mogadishu, overwhelming its limited infrastructure. Tens of thousands more have crossed the border to overcrowded camps in neighboring countries. Meanwhile, millions of people in Kenya, Ethiopia and Djibouti continue to face severe difficulties.
MedPharm, in cooperation with our NGO partners, has pledged pharmaceutical aid valued at $1 million USD towards the relief of the acute medical crisis. MedPharm CEO Andrew Koval commented, “We continue to work with our partners in providing critically needed essential medicines that we hope bring a margin of liberation to this ravaged region."
MedPharm Introduces Quality Assurance Program
Since MedPharm's inception in 1994, we have been committed to the highest level of quality and purity in the pharmaceutical industry. With the introduction of our own family of products, we are proud to announce our Quality Assurance program. The MedPharm Quality Assurance “Q” seal on the package guarantees that our product has been screened and meets the highest quality standards as set by BP or USP, and that it has been manufactured in accordance with good manufacturing procedures.
Testing New Innovative Deworming Solutions
Initial trials are encouraging for MedPharm supplied Nitezole. Developed with the goal of increasing the success of deworming programs worldwide, this product introduces a single-dose tablet that combines one wide spectrum deworming product, Mebendazole, with one antiprotozoal product, Tinidazole. These combinations are effective against macroscopic parasites such as oxiuros, ascaris lumbricoides, ancylostoma duodenale, necator americanus, trichuris, and tenia; and also for microscopic parasites, tricomonas, and amebas, plus a principal and most effective agent to treat Giardia.
The trials are being conducted through a consortium of partners across twelve countries and with the goal of treating 4.5 million children.
Earthquake Update
Reports indicate that a 5.8 magnitude earthquake occurred in Virginia at 1:51 pm EDT on August 23, 2011. MedPharm evacuated its premises and closed its head office as a precautionary measure. All of MedPharm’s staff are safe and unharmed. MedPharm facilities, including our on-site laboratory facilities, suffered no damages. Operations have resumed as usual. Thank you to all of our clients and friends who expressed concern for our wellbeing.
Swaziland's MOH Extends Invitation to MedPharm
MedPharm has been invited to prequalify to tender to Swaziland's Ministry of Health. We see this as a strong validation of our international reputation, and look forward to the opportunity to demonstrate the high commitment to service and quality that MedPharm demonstrates in all of its endeavors.
