7.16.23 Lunchtime drawing: An abandoned horse at the playground, whose scale is hard to sense, but it's so large that it's hard to imagine this toy ever being in a Manhattan apartment, getting a second life, hair wet from the rain.

7.15.23 Lunchtime drawing: This basil from the farmers market is about to become part of lunch. Summer in NYC is pretty tasty.
7.14.23 Lunchtime drawing: A day to draw clouds over the Hudson River.
6.13.23 Lunchtime drawing: Just a black paint marker today/La Esquina Corner Deli in SoHo/Always want to draw it every time I bike back from Brooklyn.
7.12.13 Lunchtime drawing: In the Jefferson Market Garden for a hot minute.

7.10.23 Lunchtime drawing: A Coast Guard ship docked at the Brooklyn Navy Yard today, before I lead a sketchbook drawing session with a camp group.
7.9.23 Lunchtime drawing: Minetta Tavern’s neon sign in the daytime.
7.8.23 Lunchtime drawing: Washington Square Park, a tree, and the Dosa Man plus line for delicious dosas.
7.7.23 Lunchtime drawing: Eldridge St in the Lower East Side around the corner from my studio mate Yael’s art opening at Shelter Gallery, check it out.
7.6.23 Lunchtime drawing: Sitting in the shade of a tree and sketching the Manhattan Bridge, or more specifically, the Brooklyn Bridge and downtown skyline from down under the Manhattan Bridge. Paint marker only today black and white.
7.5.23 Lunchtime drawing: Definitely making pico de gallo tonight from a farmers market bounty from Union Square!
Also, I’m taking a web accessibility course and have decided to start writing my own alt-text on Instagram as of today as often as I can to make my artwork more accessible — rather than relying on Meta’s AI to do it for me. If you use a screen reader, have a super slow internet connection or otherwise use the alt text, I hope these image descriptions make this drawing-a-day project more interesting. By the way, this is the tenth year of the project without missing a day! . Here’s the image description alt text that I wrote for this image, although it is much too long: “Artist’s hand holding up a sketchbook with a watercolor painting of a portion of a farmers market tent, and carrots and beets on sale on a table. The sketch continues with the environment, where the drawing of the tent ends the photo of the tent begins, with other stands in Union Square visible behind. It is a hot day and the unseen artist is in the shade.”
7.4.23 Lunchtime drawing: Sudden downpour when about to leave Trader Joe's on Spring Street, so sticking around and sketching until it stops.
7.2.23 Lunchtime drawing: Back in NYC just in time for alternate side parking, sketching while waiting it out until 12:30.
7.2.23 Lunchtime drawing: Walking through the pine barrens. “The Albany Pine Bush is an inland pine barrens. This ecosystem is similar to coastal pine barrens found in New Jersey, Cape Cod and Long Island, but is different because it occurs inland. There are less than 20 examples of this habitat in the world. This is one of the best that remains.”
The stamp with today’s date is from the discovery store here where you can stamp your “national parks passport”
7.1.23 Lunchtime drawing: The historic North Park Theatre in Buffalo where you can still catch a film, and outside see the epic neon lit (well, it’s daytime) signage sitting atop the marquee.
6.30.23 Lunchtime drawing: Monica’s milkweed.
