They may not be able to tell you just how they’re able to do this, but they always know when you’re in a bad mood.
Whenever something bad has just happened, they can almost feel the sinking feeling in your stomach themselves, a feeling most foreign to them.
When the lift slowly creaks down to the depths of the dungeons and they hear your footsteps against the cobbled floor, they instantly walk to greet you.
All the tables are usually messy with equipment, but it appears that they’ve tidied up early today for some reason.
While you yourself didn’t feel anything was particularly wrong, Valdemar felt your discontent from the second you let out a deep sigh.
“MC. I have cleared my appointment schedule for this evening, I shall allow you to choose what we do tonight.”
Valdemar isn’t your typical lover, amazingly enough, but the way they show their affection is to place you on a pedestal above their work.
Their work is their life so you should feel incredibly important.
While you were very much aware of Valdemar’s dislike of the outdoors, they agreed to accompany you on a stroll around the vast Palace gardens, leading you to a marbled bench in the centre of a clearing.
The two of you sat in a comfortable silence for a while, Valdemar occasionally asking questions about your day, mentioning the odd few facts that they read that day and so on.
Valdemar pulled you towards them sideways, resting their gloved hands in the centre of your back, rubbing deep circles in your tissue, every ounce of stress that you had felt prior instantly melting away.
“I must ask, my dearest, what is on your mind. I can sense that you are unhappy this evening, I wonder if if could be due to overworking yourself again?”
And just like that, every thought that you’d been keeping to yourself suddenly spilled from your lips, as if Valdemar had cast some sort of spell on you with their words.
When you finally stopped, their arms cradled your waist, pulling you flush against their chest as they looked down at you owlishly.
“I suppose I had better keep an eye on you, dear. As a doctor, I cannot allow for you to work yourself to… Well, death. Luckily, though, I have the perfect remedy for your troubles…”
They leant down, pressing a gentle tly kiss to your jugular in your neck.
“.. A large dosage of vitamin me.”
And as they leant forward with a deep grin on their face, lips gently touching yours, you instantly forgot that any of your worries had ever existed at all.
