The impact on my social media understanding

From all my posts during the semester, I have a great understanding on what behind the social media world, I learned how social media outlets work, how I can send a relevant massage, what is the suitable sequence for posting, the use of hashtags, how to make an interesting post with pictures ,GIF, or graphics.

Through the assignments during the semester my knowledge keep improving my writing skills and my critical thinking is also developed. At the beginning I feel confused because of my little aware of uses different platforms and dealing with new content that we have to write our opinion around. It was difficult somehow to deal with these new things. Put the difficulties fade with time. We start get the point and know the exact uses of each platform.

Beside the new information and knowledge during my posting in tumblr I get the lesson of managing my time and divides my post to share others my opinion on that topics in a simple way.

Now I know more about the positive sides of new media and how to share others information, ideas and experience in addition to how the leaders get benefits of making accounts on its platforms as link between them and the citizens. Also I get point of the negative side of social media that make me know how to avoid such, internet crimes and hackers and what the strategies they use to gain the personal information and steel the secrets. All that things make me aware in how to protect my personal accounts to keep my information save.

The topic of internet crimes and hackers is one that have a pig impact on my social media understanding it make me more caution on dealing with the new media and internet sites.

In social media world the simple mistakes from the users can cost much and make the uses life in danger.

Every single data, that available in social media platforms are monitored by certain parties which can use it for its own gales.so because of that the users should be aware of the cyber security that include the information security on the internet and how to protects their account privacy from any interference.

The real threat of hackers increased in resent time because of the internet that makes the users of the technology in danger. The hackers can break in to the user's privacy, grab their secrets, and steal their money from the credit card also.

things that help hackers to penetrate your account

- all personal data in the profile of the accounts

- One password for each social networking accounts

- Password is weak and easy to remember

- The lack of antivirus software

- The presence of spyware on the machine

- Internet access

Goals of hack

- Impersonation

- Destroy the reputation

- stealing or spying

- Curiosity

In my point of view I think it’s important that we each understand the risks as well as the actions we can take to help protect our privacy, information and systems. Use strong passwords (combination of upper and lower case letters, numbers, different password for each account, clear profile without full information data. More ever we should be smart of using those platforms and aware of its policy to avoided been in trouble.

Social media occupies a large part of our daily lives. All of us use it for different reasons to satisfy different needs. Form my interviews with 10 males using social media. I asked them about what is the main reason for being active on Facebook, Twitter or any other social platforms I realized that:

Males use different social media sites for many reasons:

· To share details of our everyday life

· To stay in touch with what friends are doing

· To stay up-to-date with news and current events

· To meet new people

· To watch online sport match or the sport News

· For shopping from electronic stores

· To fill up the free time

· To find funny or entertaining content

· To share opinions

· To share photos or videos with others

· Because friends are already have accounts on them

From those reasons I can say that they looking from Social media for information, entertainments, building a relationships and for a space to expression there opinion.

How males use different social media platforms:

Facebook- is the largest social platform. They use it to see what there network is updates. Also to share photos, search for information and to knew the news in their interest fields.

Twitter- meals use connect with their immediate social network, share opinion, photos and videos, get the result of matches, see the latest updates around the world.

Instagram- it's the most common social media platform due to the interviews results, it is a place where they go to see and share different images and videos in addition to shopping from its electronic stores.

YouTube- Most male typically go to YouTube to search for entertainment videos, to watching talk show, their favorite team matches results or music.

Snapchat- Snapchat lets them easily talk with their friends, view Live Stories from around the world, and explore news.

According to result above Social media comes down to a simple basic human desire which is the need to connect with others, to be part of a group. As well as make a space that allowed males of the freedom of expression and exchange of ideas, knowledge and experience. Those platforms facilitate the identification of what interests them that happening all around the world

The presence of world leaders in social media platforms

In the past time people used to gathering in the public squares to listen to the leader speech. In the present day the television and the radio was able to form a basic pillar of the link between the people and governance.

Today, social networking sites has broken all the old media outlets and acquires the youth times, that's why the world leaders trend towards it and make it a platform to communicate with people.

King Salman the king of Saudi Arabia is the first king in the medal east who has active accounts in social media and the US President Barack Obama, in first place globally; and his tweets consider the famous tweets around the world.

World leaders used social media accounts to achieve a number of interests and that’s clear in the following points:

* social media platforms such as twitter and Facebook are useful and effective in election campaigns, which considered as a short way to the voters hearts.as Barack Obama did also Trump in the present time.

* they use twitter and Facebook it to deliver political messages to other countries, or perhaps for diplomatic battles also.

*During the negotiations on the Iranian nuclear program, Twitter was the preferred means for all negotiating parties to disseminate information on the status of the negotiations.

* The exploitation of networking sites to achieve sustainable development in the Arab world, and adopt the best global practices in the field of technology, such as the interest of social media by his Highness Mohammed bin Rashid vice President of UAE ,also Queen Rania the king of Jordan wife.

In my point of view I think that the current period which concurrent with the technological revolution and the transition to the digital media require the presence of world leaders on these platforms for several reasons

*Social media means helps rounded the leader point of views, his thoughts and aspirations of the public. These methods are used to gain the trust between the leaders and the general public which achieved by dealing with them in all transparency and clarity through inform them of the most important future plans and make them part of shaping these plans according to their needs.

The Sultanate achieved most of the Millennium Development goals

Sultanate of Oman since the beginning of its renaissance is keen to achieve the millennium development goals. And that is very obvious when it achieved the first goal which is about "eradicating extreme poverty and hunger, reducing the proportion of the population living on less than one dollar", Oman government was able to reduce that to the half between 1990 and 2015.

The Sultanate is putting efforts in raising the standard of living and it is considered one of the priorities for long-term development strategy (1996-2020).

In addition the Sultanate accomplished the goal of achieving universal primary education by the year of 2015. This improvements of this goal are mainly due to the development of the efficiency of the educational system, which lead to a lower school dropout rates in the grades (1-6).

Oman also taken active steps towards achieving gender equity and empowerment of women believing in the importance of this principle as a factor that contributes to the achievement of sustainable development. and that is very obvious as the statistics show that the ratio of girls to boys in higher education is 138% and the proportion of women in supervisory positions both in the public and private sectors from 3.75% in 2003 to 4.26% in 2010.

The Sultanate achieved high achievements in the field of nutrition, especially for children under the age of five years old and reduce the problem of food shortage. The decline ratio stood at 8.6% in 2009.

Omani visual art

The visual art is very popular in the Sultanate of Oman . It has a cultural value, it refer to the identity of Omani people. They may use some symbol from their culture in the roundabout or as landmarks as the one in AL-Riam Parke _Almajmar- and it refers to the Omani history as it was known from the old days as Point the city that sell frankincense to the Pharaonic civilization.

In addition to the -fish- roundabout which is located in Muttrah that demonstrates the abundance and diversity of fish wealth. The long street of AL-Qurneesh in Matrah has picture and painting from old days of Oman.

Moreover, we can notice the visual art as the national sign posters on the cars which is (Al khanjar and cross swords or the Sultanate map or even color the car with (green, red and white) the 3 colors of Oman flag), which represents the identity and prove the value of belonging and love of the country.

The ship roundabout is located in Muscat. It is one of the famous visual arts that have a cultural value. It refers to the Omani marine history. Oman is well-known for building traditional ships. Omani people used those ships in fishing, trading, military and travelling. They reach China and South Africa for trading. Oman kingdom reach out to Zanzibar back in the days were Oman was powerful country

Also the visual art can be noticed in the Mountains' which refers to names of cities or villages, For example; Fanja, Izki and many others.

Abdulazeez Al-Shehi is one of the famous visual artist in Oman. He drew a painting portrait for his majesty Sultan Qaboos on the top Khasab Mountain.

In my point of view, I think that Omani people use the visual art to express themselves, and send indirect messages for others to tell them about their history and believes.

Women’s Movement and the Development of Civil Society in Oman

Omani Women's Association is one of the most important institutions of civil society that effectively contribute to the empowerment of women in society. Such organizations aim to: * Highlight the role of Omani women and strengthen its position and participation in local and international forums. * Enhance high-quality lifestyles for women. * Attention to the Omani women's issues in the society moreover of creation communication channels and with the various parties. * Activating the role of Omani women in the governmental and private institutions. * Women empowerment of the intellectual and self-development sides. As Example: Sharifa Nasser Al-Qarni, one of the productive women in my society. She plays a big role to improve Omani women role. Beside her job in hospital she is the head of “Omani Women's Association". She helps poor families and recognizes the society about the diseases beside the importance of education. In addition she seeks to improve the economic and social standing of the family by train women to locate and obtain sources of income. The Sultanate is considered a leader in the empowerment of women and involving them in different development activities. Since the leadership of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, the government has accorded Omani women due care and interest to provide them with opportunities in the fields of development. Omani Women have enjoyed equal opportunities in education and employment since the beginning of Oman’s Modern Renaissance. His Majesty declared the’ Day during the Women’s Symposium in 2009. As attribute to the Omani women efforts .because of that, 17 October is celebrated every year as the Omani Women's Day with various pro-female events. His Majesty also set a Number of legislations and laws that guarantee the Omani Women rights and explain their duties in order to be able to develop their inner abilities, expertise and skills to build their country and raise its status. From my point of view I think that, the Omani women have the skills that help her to successfully develop and promote the society. Hopefully its roles and its productivity will increase tremendously in the coming years as to raise the name of the Sultanate locally and internationally.

Since we lives in the internet era and information revolution, we are facing a big challenges that require us to be awareness of How technology works moreover the ways of using technology. That’s make the users able to distinguish between its benefits and avoid the disadvantages.

So what are the positives and the negatives aspects of social interaction and information technology?

We are surrounded by technology so; it is amazing how someone can find a long-lost friend through a social networking site, enabling them to reconnect. And how good if these tools would be used to gain an understanding of other cultures, meet people all over the world and communicate effectively with others. However, some technological advances cause people to be distracted, overly stressed, and increasingly isolated by spending time on it.

As it is clear that technology has the potential to harm or enhance social skills and social life, it enables its users to openness to different cultures; On the other hand may leads to entry of different habits may inconsistent with the society traditions.

Although, the information technology still have an important role in facilitating access to information, and find out what is going on around the world quickly and without any effort .but we still have to be careful in dealing with the technical content to ensure its credibility in the absence of control and observation over these means.

In addition, the social media is a good chance for the talented people to display their talents and develops their skills, but in the same time it helped to increase the copying among the users, also it’s a reason of intellectual property absence.

From my point of view, I see that we need to emphasize the positive aspects of the social interaction and take the good values. Moreover take caution from its negatives sides in order to avoid falling in risk.

As we know, that what comes out of officials and senior authorities should be applied and work with it. Because of such Institutions are leading the country's development. But the question is does all officials applies what they state?

What happens with the “AL Shura “now days is one of the common mistakes that still applies in our society. The statements issued by some candidates, which includes faked promises and hopes. After being membership in the Shura Council, They start to achieve their personal interests and forgot what they said before. While, the principle of consultation is to meet the needs of citizens and help them to deliver their demands to the higher authorities

When the citizens realize that their needs and interests are not be met nor heard, they protest in different ways to stop such behaviors, which makes the candidate lose his position as a punished. The candidates must be responsible for what he says and fulfill his promise to save his reputation, position and keep people trust on him.

What happed in Al Mudhaibi when the candidate is just apples his own interests and ignore the needs of citizens, they went objection letter to (chief election Commissioner) . The Official institution should be cautious before announcing their official decisions

Social media and language harassment with the absence of control and the large area of freedom provided by social media nowadays, the electronic harassment such as language harassment becomes a serious issue and very dangerous phenomenon. This leads to misuse of the language or unwelcome conduct through new media apps by using unknown account or fake identity. The social media outlets such as Facebook, twitter, YouTube, Instagram and others is the most common sites that language harassment present it. The diffrent ways of language harassment mostly used are sending voice, images, comment or video to create a hostile environment. The harassment is a form of discrimination or disturbing that affects negatively on victim’s life. Because of that all social media users should be conscious of how to use these applications positively, how to deal with this kind of harassment and know about the ways of protecting their privacy to help them fights this phenomenon. By the Law, there are several laws that protect the victims of electronic harassment, which States to punish those who publish it.

The information revolution that happens now a days in the world makes many changes and development's in human life. The most important thing that information revaluation changes is how media deal with the information. The new media is the second part after the traditional media, which is (radio, television and newspapers). Facebook, Twitter, Blogs, YouTube, Instagram is the most popular new media outlets that based on flow of information via the internet. New media is available in all work places. The companies use new to promote their identity, services and its goals to the public . So new media is the link between the company and its audience . Studying new media important because by new media we can follow the speed of Changes that happens day after day. The new media outlets make the exchange of experiences much easier for the users from all parts of the world. By new media we can communicate with different people from different parts of the world, find out what is going on around us also accessing to the information quickly without effort . The new media minimize the distances and make the world's as a small village.
