My style is basically 'narrative', I shoot images of animals, countries, art & architecture that interest me - 'life' from a slightly different perspective - mine. My greatest influences are the great photographers of the 50's & 60's as well as the vintage National Geographic mags I grew up with.

Last night, I was very lucky to be close to a patch of this lake where the final rays of the sun fall before dropping over the horizon. I had the foresight to have taken some bread and I was able to coax this Mute Swan into the pool of light - with the bonus that he splashed his plumage with water drops that also caught the light.

Overlooking A Mere In Delamere Forest.

‘Meres’ are ponds, or lakes, created at the end of the last Ice-Age by huge ice blocks (once part of the ice sheet) finally melting - but leaving a depression in the soft earth.  Cheshire’s water table is particularly high and so it fills these depressions - producing ponds that attract a huge variety of animal & plant life.

The sunset has moved from the lake - but it still bathes an old dead tree with light - which reflects back from the surface of the water, the ripples created by a number of ducks adds to the coloured effects.
