((Omg, I am so sorry for being away XD I'M TERRIBLE.
...And I really have no excuse for it either. I am not sure where to reply again though since I missed the whole teenager-thing with Cortex.))
Yawning tiredly, Nina hadn't taken the time to change out of her pajamas yet-- she figured it wouldn't hurt to wait a while and had decided to grab breakfast first. She stopped in the kitchen and opened the cabinet, where she was greeted by a full pantry. Unfortunately, nothing in that pantry struck her fancy.
"UNCLE CORTEX, THERE'S NOTHING TO EAT!"
âI actually donât disagree with you at all.â she answered. âI gathered that much from the conversation⊠but I donât think he sees it that way at all. Itâs like heâs blind to it.â she looked up at her uncle as he continued talking, and as he said those last few words, tears began...
Nina didn't care much for crying, even though as an emotional girl, it's not like there was anything she could do to stop it-- and this was no exception. Tears streamed down both cheeks now, blurring her vision. "What would I do without you..." she sniffled once more, but a yawn followed afterwards.
"I guess I should probably go to bed now... I'll seeya tomorrow." She said, chuckling awkwardly-- then turned and began to walk away.
"Goodnight!" she waved to her uncle before finally heading off to her room, completely unaware of the sort of surprise she was in for the next morning when she would see him again, I'm sure.
I wonder: Reblog and put how you think your muse's scent smells of?
danskdanish: Mathias probably smells of beer and fruit thanks to his soaps and stuff.... and then sweat
drinkintealikeaboss: Ravi smells like a mixture of spices and such. And since he's now showering regularly with Mathias, fruit.
loki-hornedkingofdickery: I think Loki would smell like Old Spice and apple cinnamon body spray or hand lotion. And baby.
rp-basquespy: When she's just showered or when it's not the day of a battle, generally Berezi smells faintly of lavender. But it's not exactly known how this scent comes about, it's definitely not strong enough to be perfume or cologne and she seems to use normal soap.
ragequitinvoker: I don't know, actually. She'd smell like faintly of apple cinnamon or some kind of mysterious shit. Who knows?
mochascout: What do you think? He smells like chocolate!
unfrickintouchable: Sweat, duh. Sweat and dirt and maybe, on a good day, the faintest hint of weed. On a good day.
rp-strangelove: Copper, sulfur, and mix of peaches.
rp-ibivictoria: Vanilla, tea, and the slightest hint of woodsy musk. More masculine than you'd think!
rp-deadreckoning: Baked earth, lemon verbena, and coffee.
pocket-chibz: Sort of like a doctor's office on most days. She uses baby powder after showers so she'll probably faintly smell like that if you're close to her.
asktheredpyro: Mix of rubber and men's deodorant probably.
ribbonofyellow: Possibly lemon perfume
doctor-neo-cortex: Cologne, floral-scented shampoo, baby powder-scented white-stick deodorant, and latex.
nina-cortex: Strawberry shampoo and a hint of metal, that's about it.
âGood. Okay, I promise Iâll try and call you again soon! Bye, Nina! Smooches!â
The voice in the background cried âYouâre hanging up already?!â just as the call ended.
Cortex heard that last bit of dialogue, and it got him fuming. His brother could not...
"I actually don't disagree with you at all." she answered. "I gathered that much from the conversation... but I don't think he sees it that way at all. It's like he's blind to it." she looked up at her uncle as he continued talking, and as he said those last few words, tears began to form in the corner of her eyes. He cared, and Nina knew it. She'd always known it, but there were so many times where she'd been blind to it-- "Blind like Dad", Nina thought. And why? She wasn't always like that... she had been quite the affectionate child, hadn't she? So why had she put up such a wall as the years had gone by? And would it be such a bad thing to let it down once in a while?
Nina sniffled, and without warning, turned and wrapped her uncle in a tight hug. "I want to feel frustrated, and... in a way I guess I am." she said, her voice barely above a whisper now. "But... I know it's not gonna do me any good. I've held so much anger inside of me for so long and it's never amounted to anything. Meo is never gonna be 'Dad' for me, and no amount of bitterness over the past is going to change t-that." she stuttered, pulling away from her uncle just a bit and averting her gaze.
"Thank you... for, y'know, everything."
Nina smiled sadly. âYeah, I promise.â
âGood. Okay, I promise Iâll try and call you again soon! Bye, Nina! Smooches!â
The voice in the background cried âYouâre hanging up already?!â just as the call ended.
Cortex heard that last bit of dialogue, and it got him fuming. His brother could not have had anything better to do than to talk to Nina. Why did he hang up?! That bastard!
âSo⊠what did he say?â he asked Nina, trying to contain his anger.
"Seeya." were the last words she got in before the call came to an abrupt stop.
Nina looked at her uncle and shrugged her shoulders. "He told me about what he does... and why he does it, I guess... he said he misses me..." she sighed. "And oh, he said he envies us. I mean, I don't know, he seemed pretty sincere about that and... I think he has a lot of regrets, Uncle Cortex."
Nina slumped a bit back on the couch she was sitting on. "I don't hate him... I just wish he could've told me these things sooner... and, y'know, maybe told me the whole truth while he was at it, cause I know he was leaving some things out in that phonecall, and I really wish I knew why..."
âGary, huh?â Nina commented, almost under her breath. She was able to catch the comments this âGaryâ made on the other end of the phone quite clearly and was already fairly certain she didnât like this guy much.
âHe really shouldnât be treating you like that, that kind of talk is...
Nina smiled sadly. "Yeah, I promise."
Thank yeh very much for following me, Nina. It means a lot. Also, could yeh please tell me a little bit about this plan that yer formulating? Just out of curiosity. (ooc: Sorry for not being on the past two days. It was all related to an incident coming on to see a askbox full of stupidity and people heading the right way for a smart arse. So, needless to say, I was extremely grumpy.)
Hey, no problem. We've got a bright future together, you and I. Us girls gotta stick together, right? Heh.
Aaand, that would be CLASSIFIED INFORMATION-- even for you. Sorry, Deja. Totally not fond of showing off unfinished work, if ya get me. Ask again in four years, LOL.
((No problem, it's fine. Sorry about that & I hopefully those asks will stop. D: ))
âTrue.â Nina replied. âNobody actually hassucceeded yet⊠Not even the great Brain.â she mused, recalling the super intelligent rodent sheâd always kind of admired.
It was true, though. If none of the already active and brilliant evil minds hadnât come to succeed in world...
"Gary, huh?" Nina commented, almost under her breath. She was able to catch the comments this 'Gary' made on the other end of the phone quite clearly and was already fairly certain she didn't like this guy much. "He really shouldn't be treating you like that, that kind of talk is only meant for minions!" she said with an edge to her voice. "You really should tell him off..." "And... yeah, I do." she answered in reply to his question of whether or not there was anything left to share before the call came to an end. "Before you go, promise me something, Dad." Nina's tone became slightly more serious now. "Promise me you'll take care of yourself, and by that I mean not sticking around with certain 'friends' if things go sour."
Ooh, burn. That was harsh, but Nina had to admit sheâd thought the same most of the time in regards to her uncleâs failure as a villain in the past. She chuckled to herself. âOh, thereâs no doubt about that.â
Well, the conversation seemed to be going alright⊠Maybe her Dad wasnât...
"True." Nina replied. "Nobody actually has succeeded yet... Not even the great Brain." she mused, recalling the super intelligent rodent she'd always kind of admired.
It was true, though. If none of the already active and brilliant evil minds hadn't come to succeed in world domination yet, what made her think she could any better? Nina felt a bit discouraged for a moment, but quickly brushed it off as her father continued.
She listened as he suddenly spilled his emotions (or what would be considered a spill of emotions in Nina's mind) and grew silent. So this was what was behind all these years he'd been absent? She'd never heard the full story, and frankly, she knew even now there were details still being left out of the whole thing, but would pushing the issue really help? Nina was at a loss.
"I understand..." she replied, half-lying. "But I do hope you have luck on your... um, self discovery. I really do." Now, that part was genuine.
The girl sighed. What if things had been different? What if her father had taken her along? Would things even be better? Would they be worse? The more questions she asked herself, the more confusing it all became.
"What have you been up to lately?â he said next, catching her slightly off guard.
"Oh! Um... Well, actually, I've spent the last month at Evil Camp. It was... an interesting experience for sure." Nina really didn't want to go into all the details like she had with her Uncle, and so kept it brief. "But yes, I only arrived home yesterday, in fact."
At the mention of âarmyâ, Nina took on a new tone. âOh yeah, donât worry, I totally planto.â she said with absolute confidence. âYou can count on thatâ Iâve already begun formulating a plan.â she said with a grin, holding the phone slightly closer to her ear.
âThings are gonna...

Well, the conversation seemed to be going alright... Maybe her Dad wasn't such a bad guy after all? So far, Nina really wasn't sure what to think.
OOC Post
Guys, I may be out most of the day today because - guess what? - itâs my birthday! So if you donât hear from me, thatâs why.
Thatâs it, I guess. Later!
OOC: ((Hey, happy birthday! Hope it's a great one!))
Nina listened intently and there was a short pause before she said anything. âI⊠uhh⊠yeah, I understand, Dad. I guess⊠we all have our⊠priorities, huh?â her voice had slowed, and there was now a noticeable sadness in the tone she used.
âSo howâs your uncle been treating you?â...
At the mention of 'army', Nina took on a new tone. "Oh yeah, don't worry, I totally plan to." she said with absolute confidence. "You can count on that-- I've already begun formulating a plan." she said with a grin, holding the phone slightly closer to her ear.
"Things are gonna change around here-! Er... someday, anyway. Age can get in the way, y'know." she added quickly, making sure her father knew exactly why that 'someday' hadn't happened just yet.
âH-hi.â Nina was nervous, she couldnât help it. Excited yes, but nervous nonetheless. âHello, DadâŠâ She held the phone close, her fingers almost felt like butter slipping across the buttons as she awaited his reply.
((no problem!))
âHey. I am so super sorry for not keeping in...
Nina listened intently and there was a short pause before she said anything. "I... uhh... yeah, I understand, Dad. I guess... we all have our... priorities, huh?" her voice had slowed, and there was now a noticeable sadness in the tone she used.
"So how's your uncle been treating you?" Meo had asked-- and for a moment, Nina was prepared to go on a super long and snappy rant about how miserable she was here with him, but the more the girl thought about it, the more she realized how much of a lie it was. The flurry of conflicted feelings resulted in an even longer (and slightly awkward) pause in the conversation, until she finally spoke.
"He, uhhh... Actually... Uncle Cortex hasn't been all that bad at all... He even recently let me have my own minion!! --Even though I, er... really am not all that deserving... Yeah, haha." she said the last bit quickly. "Besides, he's around when I need him... a-and... yeah, anyway... I promise there's no need to reprimand... anyone."
Nina's thoughts were swimming. WHAT AM I SAYING? GOSH, this is embarrassing. You're weak, Nina. WEAK. PULL IT TOGETHER, GIRL.
Nina whirled around with a snarl. âWHAT WOULD YOU KNOW ABOUT ITâ Wait.â Had she heard correctly? She tossed her headphones to the side and looked straight at Cortex. âFather? My father wants to speak to me?â Ninaâs eyes narrowed, unsure if her uncle was serious or if this was...
"H-hi." Nina was nervous, she couldn't help it. Excited yes, but nervous nonetheless. "Hello, Dad..." She held the phone close, her fingers almost felt like butter slipping across the buttons as she awaited his reply.
((no problem!))
Classroom Chaos (Cortex) - Crash Twinsanity
She wouldnât be very difficult to find, with headphones turned up to full volume, hard metal blasting far beyond her right and left ear. Anyone who walked near the room could easily hear it. No matter how many times Nina was told doing this would damage her hearing, she just...
Nina whirled around with a snarl. "WHAT WOULD YOU KNOW ABOUT IT-- Wait." Had she heard correctly? She tossed her headphones to the side and looked straight at Cortex. "Father? My father wants to speak to me?" Nina's eyes narrowed, unsure if her uncle was serious or if this was some kind of sick joke.
As much as she had the right to hate him, Nina couldn't shake the excitement that was building up in her teenage brain. Since she was just a child attending Madam Amberly's, she'd been jealous of the other children who knew their fathers; Heck no, she'd been insanely jealous. She'd never admitted to it, though. Evil academy was no place to reveal any sort of weakness, as it could've easily lead to bullying. (which Nina would never subject herself to if she could help it.) She had always been determined to stay on top.
Recalling these memories, Nina made it a point not to show her excitement. "Tell him I grant his request to speak to me, then. But he's gotta make it quick, I have no time for silly chats with invisible fathers."
Ohhh, what a lie, what a lie. And even as she spoke it, she cringed.
