Yes, that's the post I meant. I'd reply to the post itself, but your settings don't allow comments. This scam is usually about trying to steal your log in details. They use stolen accounts to scam people, too, because then they have an account that has years worth of posts, so it looks authentic. They might tell you they mistook you for someone else and accidentally reported you, or that they saw someone talking about you. They want to get you to click on a link, usually. Sometimes you get people claiming they're from tumblr staff, too.

Thank you for telling me this I had no idea! I appreciate you explaining it, now I'll know what to look out for. I've been seeing a lot of posts across platforms about sick pets and it really is sick how some people use that to get money. It also then discredits people who actually need the help. I'll be more careful in the future, thank you for helping!

Lots of scams on tumblr atm unfortunately. Generally speaking, be always very sceptical when a stranger approaches you. Some of the currently circling scams include: I accidentally reported you, art commissions, "tumblr staff" contacting you about suspicious activity on your account, "Gazans" asking for donations.

Hello! The injured cat post is a scam! OPs blog is just 5 days old. Don't give them money. If you keep the reblog, add a note to it that it's a scam to warn others.

Sick/injured pet was a really common scam on tumblr before they turned into using Gaza as a scam opportunity. The pet scams vanished pretty much overnight when "Gazans" started ebegging. Now that people are more aware of the Gaza stuff being scams, they're trying what else people fall for, including going back to sick pet stuff.

OP also never tried to provide evidence that the post is not a scam, just blocked me immediately.

Scams these days are often done by professional scam centres. They used to steal photos, but now that people know that, chances are this poor cat was purposefully hurt for the photos. :/
