Hello grimmi! It's Dorkydrawz if you couldn't tell, so, the reason why shoto is a villain in my au is because well, he's kinda swapped roles with Touya, except he's very different from cannon Dabi and Touya is very different from Cannon Shoto. Shoto was still "the masterpiece" and he was still beaten in training, one day Shoto was like 5 or 6 he somehow managed to get away and sneak off to sekkito peak where he had that mental breakdown like Touya, accidentally lit the forest on fire they thought he died. He was in a coma for 3 years, realized what happened, lit the hospital on fire, accepted that Shoto Todoroki is dead, goes by the name Zankuro, a hero tried to help him but Zankuro killed him, does whatever Dabi did in cannon until he met the LOV, he also doesn't really have much memory of before he was in a coma, and to really give you an example of what his personality is like, it's mix of Hellflame's and Fallen heroes Rei's personalities. And Endeavor is very toned down in this au, cause after Shoto "died" that made him realize that he's actually a really crappy person and is trying to fix all the damage he has caused, and Touya isn't a pro hero his an engineer at Endeavor's agency, Touya still had his quirk issues but after Shoto's "death" he decided to shape up. Also Zankuro just kills any hero he sees, he hates all of them, and he wants to kill his family, just all of them, Zankuro also killed off Bakugo he doesn't really kill off students but Bakugo ticked him off. He almost killed Izuku but decided to let him live. Shoto's main hero targets are heroes that remind him of Endeavor. I don't know what really more to put here I hope this makes since
okay, I REALLY LIKE THIS, Engineer Touya is great but I think the timeline needs sorting out and a stronger reason as to why Shoto ran away/had a breakdown.
-Rei gives Shoto his scar+is sent away
-Shoto, already in a fragile mindset+hating his dad, looks for comfort in Fuyumi.
-Touya and Natsuo are there, Touya is covered in his own burns, and Natsuo is upset because Rei is gone. If you lean into the fact Natsuo, as a child, resented Shoto a bit for taking away their parentsâ attention, you could have him be bitter that Shoto yet again is taking a mother figure away from him (Fuyumi) and because Natsuo is still a kid (8?) heâs partially blaming Shoto.
-Touya is being Touya and being mean to Shoto, giving him the same look that terrified Rei, and Shoto sees his fatherâs anger in Touya, realities what his mother saw on his own face, gets scared, and runs away before Fuyumi can stop him. Fuyumi wants to call Enji, but her and Natsuo are scared of his reaction, and Touya doesnât care.
-Shoto runs away, and has his meltdown because no matter who he goes to in the family, he isnât his own person, heâs always a means to an end or a representation of something, and the only person who had ever comforted him/been his anchor scarred him. Since his Quirk is different, both his side would blow up at the same time, scarring his body like Rei did and having a huge conflict of elements that cause more damage than Touyaâs meltdown had.
-Shotoâs fire isnât as hot, but because of the hot-cold explosion, the weather is acting up as well, violently, and nobody can get passed it, not even Endeavor.
-Enji is desperately looks for Shoto in the aftermath, neglecting the other three more than usual, and when the authorities try to convince Enji that Shoto is dead, Fuyumi breaks and starts wailing, properly crying for the first time ever, blaming herself for not stopping Shoto when sheâs supposed to support her siblings, then Natsuo starts crying because he had blamed Shoto for something that wasnât his fault and starts screaming at Enji, finally saying all the things he thought about him, and about Touya and all the things he said while keeping Natsuo up at night, and Enji looks at Touya, which makes Touya start crying to because âI just wanted you to look at meâ.
-All of that combined hits Enji like a freight train because his youngest is dead, his wifeâs been sent away because of his own actions and his three eldest have been neglected this entire time and are now blaming themselves for something they had no control over. It doesnât snap him out of his obsession completely but it does force him to look at himself and realise he majorly fucked up and has been spiralling for years.
-Endeavor takes a break to refocus on his kids, giving them attention and support they needed while trying to fix himself on his own, which at first, really doesnât go down well, but Touya is just happy to have his fatherâs attention back, and seeing Touya happy, it encourages Fuyumi. Natsuo takes the longest to come round to the new dynamic, but eventually he too accepts Enjiâs efforts (but the bitterness never fully goes away).
-3 years later, Shoto would be 8 years old when he wakes up, and considering he never had Touyaâs dynamic with Enji, I actually donât think heâd burn the hospital and run away. I actually think he wouldâve stayed because ânobody wants me at home anywayâŚthey all hate meâ and AFO would have a field day with that, lovebombing Shoto and make him feel special and âlovedâ.
-Shoto stills has his ârebirthâ but itâs as AFOâs student/underling. Shoto having bad memory and a messed up emotionally state is perfect, considering it all happened when he was so little. You could have some interest parallels between him and Shigaraki.
-BUT Shoto isnât as useful as Shigaraki, because while Shigaraki hates everything, Shoto only hates Endeavor and those like him/around him by proxy, so while Shoto is a back up vessel, AFO knows heâs useless outside of a weapon to take down Endeavor.
-The remaining TodoFam somewhat heal, itâs awkward not easy and thereâs a lot of hurt/bitterness, but Enji is trying and the three are receptive to it. Touya becomes an engineer (probably to try and make support gear that would cancel out his and his fatherâs overheating issues because bro is still obsessed), Fuyumi becomes a teacher and you can either have a Pro-Hero Natsuo who wants to be a child rescue hero OR have him become a doctor with a focus on mental health to help unstable heroes like Endeavor.
-I think Zankuro killing Bakugo is very interesting BUT you need a better reason that âhe ticked him offâ XD if you lean into the âhates anything Endeavor-likeâ you could have Bakugouâs feral nature triggering something in Shoto and have him lose control/go overboard in sheer fear/panic/flashbacks of what Enji used to be like.
-Have Zankuro meet Endeavor after he becomes N1 BUT he doesnât recognise him because Enji has completely softened up since his death; âwhere is Endeavor, I want to kill himâ straight to Endeavorâs face and Enji is like âuhâŚIâm a Endeavorâ, and Shoto replying with something like âNo way, your eyes are too kindâ. Really smack Enji with the reminder of how terrible he used to be.
-AND IF YOU HAVE THE FINAK WAY, TOUYA FINALLY MAKES A PROTOTYPE OF THE SUPPORT ITEM HE WANTS WITH THE HELP OF MELISSA SO HE CAN FIGHT SHOTO AND IT CANâT WITHSTAND SHOTOâS STRENGTH BUT TOUYA IS MORE TENACIOUS THAN HIM AND WINSSSSS
Thereâs honestly sm you could go with this, but I think you need answers to the âwhy does this happen/why does character do thisâ questions. But namely, Iâd have Shoto be way more focused on Endeavor rather than Heroes as a whole.
I have more ideas with All Might and Endeavor, like Enji being ashamed but asking him to come to Shotoâs funeral because thatâs one of the only things Enji knew about Shoto: that he liked All Might. And that way, All Might and Endeavor are more involved in each otherâs story, and thus Izukuâs.
Again, SO MUCH you can do with this concept.
