I believe that Fashion Is Us. It's something Everyone can relate to, from a Hobo to a Gazillion Billionaire! I can design so I think that I can critique... And whats criticism without a few words of sarcasm? So join me if you believe in wearing clothes everyday. Lol.

The Story Of My Life.

  I have always admired the individual styles of the entire band of One Direction. Niall with his casual T-shirts, Harry with his sexy shirts, Zayn with his funky jackets, Louis with his suspenders and stylish persona and Liam with his amazing selection of formals.

But this new video that they released for their heart touching song, brought out a whole new view. Starting with Harry sporting a very casual yet looking sexy in his Black T with the sleeves folded up to his arm, a look that suits him most, introduced me to a new side of him. Showcasing something sensitive. And Liam, that whole ‘Suit and Tie’ look made him look like something way different from What Makes You Beautiful and One Thing. It made him look more mature, more reliable. And Zayn in suspenders! That was something I could not even imagine in my sleep. With that adorable and goofy smile, his aura of a big brother just made me feel like I wish I had a brother like him. Niall, looking so handsome in that sweater! Jesus. Wear more sweaters, Nialler. They suit you! And then comes my favorite part of the song, Louis strolling and looking at the camera in that amazing blazer and with that smile. I think his voice is his best accessory. It has this calming effect on whoever listens to it. I must have watched that video ten times by now and I still can’t seem to get enough because of the love they put behind it.

Written on these walls... to ... Story of my life, it was wonderful and mesmerizing. And if you haven’t heard the song yet, I suggest you download it ASAP. Because it is worth it.

It’s a song which you will keep mumbling wherever you are. And maybe try to sing the chorus the way Harry does too :D

Fashion And Me.

I know people look down upon this word because it doesn’t hold much significance academically. But in reality, if you evaluate, it is a multi gazillion dollar industry. My first acquaintance with Fashion was when I was sitting on the first floor of my society with my best friend and she came up with this idea to sketch up some few dresses. Sure, it seemed like something to pass my time. So with nothing but  a pencil in my hand, I began to sketch. And sketch and sketch, today being 8 years. With small half page-of-a-notebook sketch to a A4 canvas of haute couture, I still am improvising. People ask me about my inspiration, I tell them that its everywhere. Why not? As I’m typing these words sitting in my room, with the curtains pulled over, I look around and find a million things that would inspire me. The dark pink-maroon hue of the curtains throwing its shadow on the pink wall and casting a shading, you have a summer dress stitched up already in your mind! I have this habit of scribbling the name of the song which I’m listening to as I sketch up a design next to it. And when a friend asked me recently whether ‘One Direction’ or ‘Justin Bieber’ inspire me, sure they do. Those songs form an image in my mind and it’s easier to draw. More than that, it soothes me as I come up with ideas. When I was in 7th and 8th grade, I did consider Fashion Designing as a career prospect. My mother was happy with it too. But when you look at the expenses of Fashion school, it’s sort of a big letdown. I think there should be schools that admit you based on your creativity and not money. When you’re successful enough, you can pay it back right? And when I hear about all the other people who have been admitted into such schools, it makes me wonder. Do they really have enough quality? Because I haven’t seen even one graduate from a good institute of Fashion in my country having a famous alumni. And when I check on the Fashion Week, you’d be surprised how much they copy from the original ideas the ones like Ellie Saab and Vera Wang come up with.

And the thing is, I don’t want to be one of them.

I want to be an Original.

It’s easy to talk about something but when you actually have to prove it, you can’t. And when I hear about some people being admitted into Fashion Schools just because they have the money, you can imagine what thoughts must be going into my head. Fashion should be something about what people can wear. Adding feathers and buttons to a blouse and selling it for $500 is not Fashion.

Fashion is People. It’s us.
